Sport on TV is pretty much a necessity.

How can tv hurt sports? Tv pays the clubs to have the rights (lol) to broadcast = income
broadcasting = reaching more people
I doubt people who support for their club or whom have been to games will suddenly stop going because now it's broadcasted. If anything it will be because ticket prices are (getting) ridiculous and every club has a debt, and players who ask 100k a week but that's just normal...

but how is television ruining sports?
The only thing that comes up is monotony of which are shown, it's always the big sports (soccer/bicycle races and tennis -when Belgium had good players- for Belgium) which are shown.
If I want to watch a sport I actually would watch when it's on tv (badminton/tabletennis/whatever) I can't unless it's the olympics/big atlethic meeting and even then.. I understand as to why (those are the popular/known ones) but that's fueling the never ending cycle

publicity and mass media should be completly foreing to sports imo. i really think that sports should be considered sacred by the society likes the greek did back in the days. the essence of sports is the competition in equal conditions and that is not possible when the two biggest teams of a league win the triple of the money with publicity lthan the other 18 teams together.

As I said before, that only happens in some sports though.
NFL has sick parity and the money involved in that is huge.

tv should only be allowed to show one football game live a weekend, preferably a local one- ie, showing huddersfield v bolton on yorkshire tv and granada, tottenham v villa on london and WM tv. man utd not allowed on tv at all.
International test cricket and selected county championship games should be on bbc red button and not on sky (as its pretty impossible to go to a whole 5 day game)
Cycling should be shown year round on terrestrial, not just tdf (this is justified as its impossible to know what's going on if you go and watch it)
rugby union should be banned full stop.

Nah, was aiming to go to one of the Wembley games this year (even though fuck all teams involved) but the tickets sold out too quickly. Not that bothered though to be fair.
Do really wanna get out to the US sometime and take in a Colts game, whether in Indy or somewhere else. Saying that actually, if the Jags stick at this London thing then there's a good chance the Colts will be at Wembley.
