I have been wondering about that same question.
But concluded that he, in fact, is quite the musician, wouldn't call him a genius though.
But without him, dubstep as we know it today wouldn't be the same.
He didn't 'create', nor benga, kode9, who ever, dubstep. Their tracks evolved to a certain point where they transformed the uk garage scene into a whole new level of basslines and (deep) wobbels. I don't think they woke up one day and said " all right, after this spliff i'm gonna create some new genre".
They 'merely' shaped it, and that's not the same....
BUT, he still is one sick producer that deserves all the credit he's getting, he worked hard, he created some sick tunes!
Big ups Skream!
Keep on stepping!

I think he did a lot in terms of pushing the dubstep movement forward, and I feel most of his tracks.

how do you know what people thought, why's this so funny anyway?

way back at the start of the century mala (for example) was making what he called 'broken house music' or something like that. many of the producers involved in dubstep were consciously striving to create something new and different, partly because they were unsatisfied with what was already out there, dubstep wasn't just simply an evolution of garage

also, i wonder how many of the people making offhand comments that underate skream have really heard all his tunes or followed his development as an artist throughout the years??

cos if they had they would recognise that he has an absolutely immense talent.

prodiguous, iconic...blah blah blah
done some boring shit too
but in front of that subie in 06
it was like he was channeling God.
I worry about the man tho
the pressure at such an age.
Seems a good bloke.
How 'bout we lay off and appreciate what's good.
Genius label'd do him no good cos he's got a long way to go.

I reckon get real & give him space and respect.
Primarily he is a member of our community.

LOLz best description of an LFO ever.

Skream is a virtuoso, the type of musician that any style of music needs to help it develop, this scene is lucky to have him.

I prefer that simple city tune to oskilatah, they're both really simmilar but simple city does it for me.

Splurt is my favourite skream track though, SPLURT.

quest wrote:THIS FORUM IS A FUCKING JOKE......I'M SICK OF READING SHIT LIKE THIS

can i just say that WE producers OWE U NOTHING!!!...

music is our love and an outlet to express ourselves, tunes coming out in stores, is our way of sharing it with U the world, every positive thing that comes from that is a bonus.

skream being where he is, is a reflection of his hard work, in life u get what u put in, it is not for U or I to speculate wether he is genius or not, IT IS WHAT IT IS!!

skream's musical journey is far from over, the scene changes everyday with every tune that is made all over the world.

stop dwelling on the past and the future, and just roll with the here and now, because that is all that truly matters

skream has done a lot for me and antisocial, and is a major part of the foundation of this music that we call "dubstep"

ollie, when u see this(which no doubt u will) take no notice, because after all the hype, and girls, and people saying "yes dubstep is cool" go's

its just gonna be us the producers,dj's and the REAL heads picking up the peices.
wot u on about m8? screams scarpered.
