Try loading the rex file into the NNXT as a patch (the top load button) and then you will have 16 outputs and alot more options on each slice.
Rex drum loops usually use the same sounding samples again in the same loop so i doubt you will need all 16 unless its a really individual loop. Even then, you can just cut the remainder and paste into another NNXT and use another 16 outputs.
Ahh easy mate didn't know I could load my rex loops into the nnxt this is much better now thanks for the tip! any way to make it run like a drum machine so I can hear the loop playback?

Been using this virtual midi keyboard and my cracked copy of reason 5 to fuck with synth sounds for a while and then it just stops making noise again. Turned the volume up in preferences and it just wont make sound again..
So is my copy of reason fucked or what?
Thanks

Yes, if you load the octo-rex player, pick your loop and "copy to track" without modifying it, then make your NNXT with the same loop as the octo-rex, you can just pull the midi clip(s) down to the NNXT track, it should play excatly as it does in the rex. Then you can start modifying the slices/notes.
The "slice 1" on the octo-rex is at note C1 on the piano roll, not sure if this is consistent with all loops, but it works on a 2 bar loop i just tried. you can just mute the octo-rex after and use it to import more rex's and slices as you need them. Hope that helps.

*Smacks forehead!!
Never thought to do that even though i knew Rex loops can be loaded into the XT

Please do with screenshots or even better, a full screencast!

You serious? if so yeah i'll put some effort into doing so. I'm currently learning how to sample. Been doing some serious thread digging, piecing all the info together so many questions. I'll trade you for some info about sampling in reason.

I'm certainly serious (although I realise that screencasts take far longer to do well). The more info that is shared in easy accessible tutorial format the better!
Before I would have said that Reason isn't the right program for samping due to its limitations on working with audio. However, I haven't touched Reason 5 or dug deeply into Record, so I really couldn't comment on how good it is these days.
I'd be interested to see some tuts though!
Patrick
Ps, create a new thread for your tutorials and I'll link 'em.

I own both reason and record, the sampling is 1000X nicer with record since you can use audio. Resampling becomes so much easier with the new resample function of reason 5 and the ability to timestretch audio clips by holding ctrl and stretching the clip is new to record 1.5 and make it less time consuming. Before you could only stretch by changing the bpm which was a hassle.

You can also stretch your midi clips in the sequencer by holding ctrl. It's very nice

can't screenshot, from work (lulz), but at the bottom of kong when you extend out the bottom, then there's a drop box that says something like route to, and the default should be something like master bus. you can change that to any set of numbers, then tab around, and find those corresponding numbers on the right side of the kong. voila.

For all the posts I've written hating on Reason (or more specifically, Propellerheads), I do actually deep down still profess a love for using Reason.
I wonder what they'll do in Reason 6?

Quick tut on resampling in reason 5:
1. On the back of the hardware interface you'll find a sampling input. Any sound can be resampled by routing its output to this input
2. Every sampler (also the one within Kong) has a new button next to the 'load a sound button'
3. After clicking it it will record the sampling input directly into the sampler. You will ofcourse also have to hit play after hitting the sample button.
4. If you have recorded your sound you can hit 'edit' (on the small record screen) which will open the editor. Here you can set loop points, normalize, reverse, rename etc. It's no audacity, but it has the basic functions.
you can also bring up the tool window by hitting F8 and edit or export from there.
