public social media has nothing to do with the rules of our site. this thread has had dozens of pages of twitter related hype, and with it loads of pages of trolling. there's a point where its gone too far beyond the music, and we crossed that recently with some witchhunt/obsessive vibes, which can't happen here. its not what this site is about.

Will all the pages of threads discussing Burial's (also publicly available) real name be deleted now too? When Zomby actually releases some music, there's plenty of discussion about that.

There's plenty of times he's clearly trying to stay in the public eye outside of him releasing music. A group of people having a laugh and drawing a disclosure face on a man who allowed himself to be pictured isn't trolling. What member of the site is being trolled here?

Sorry, I know it's not my site and you'll come up with a justification for anything you delete or edit, but this overzealous modding from you in particular has gone a bit far IMO. DSF, over the past few weeks in particular, is becoming less and less worth my time when I want to come and chat shit about music related things on the net. There are plenty of other, more accurate places I could find track names and release dates from.

Perhaps you could post a list of things we're actually allowed to talk about, or is it decided on a day by day basis? It'd be helpful, so people don't waste their time in light hearted joking and discussion only to see it deleted when they go back. That's a serious suggestion. It's you that seems to decide on your loose definition of "trolling", you tell us what we can and can't post.

I'm sorry but if it wasn't for a few posts like garethom mentions I would never have known burial is loefah is funtcase, or that ass2ass is a great production duo name, or to make sure I get things on an apron rather than a tshirt.

There is so much negativity in the world already, a bit of light hearted fun should be seen as a good thing. if it isn't malicious then I don't see the issue

Burial threads havent been on this witchhunt, identity investigation, by miles as Zomby has received here recently. I'm talking about discussion posted in this thread last week to be exact. even in this thread and other burial threads there's identity hunts and what have you. we're not going to retroactively edit all that out now, unless we receive complaints. what will happen is that from here on in this thread, we'll be heavily moderating it, as the trolling and complaints have steadily been building.

btw, disclosure faces aren't banned or being edited, in fact that app is brilliant, its just not the place for it in this main forum.

here's the thing you're not seeing in overview. its our privacy rule being tested. we can't have privacy rules for one artist, and privacy rules for other artists. when things get heavilly trolled, they will get heavily moderated.

our rules change maybe once or twice every year, or sometimes not even that. we don't need to justify anything. this place, in comparison to just about any other music forum is barely moderated. go check out dissensus for a couple of days and then judge us again for over-moderation. its simply not accurate. yes you do have other site choices, and i hope you find something that ticks all your boxes.

you'd have a point if its dozens of threads being moderated per day. thats simply not the case and you know it. those threads where we're drawing a line in the sand, like this one, are definitely exceptions, but then again, you don't see many artists having their identity stalked on a music forum. of course we'll handle it differently.
