what do you think would happen if the police just pulled out? If the protesters didn't have anyone to 'fight' what would they do, i mean it looks like a shitload of damage has already been done it couldn't get much worse.

The situation there is getting out of hand. Definitely if you know that it's not only the government that is pro-Russia, but also the east side of Ukrain.
