Yeah, fuck that guy... making a career for himself after scraping by making tunes for the heads for years. What a selfish bastard.

I haven't recorded a mix in ages, mostly because I need to replace on of my needles and I ain't got the P. But I wouldn't wanna record one and start shamelessly promoting it on the internet in the hope of winning a competition which has been designed to promote the record label and event more then bring new talent into the scene. Fuck plastician, I used to hugely respect the guy but stopped paying attention after he started defending skrillex and smashing out the yois. Thought he might be able to redeem himself on the new dubstep allstars but then saw this fucking bullshit and stopped caring completely.
K, thought you were gonna give it a go.

Why is it only musicians that get shite for selling out?
What about everyday people who work for arsehole government departments instead of their local garden centre because it pays twice as much? That's still selling out surely? I know id be first to congratulate on a sick payrise

He did a lot better than most of us. Dunno about you, but I sold out the day I left school and signed up to spend all my days working a job I only tolerate at best for the Man... at least he's working for himself and doing something he enjoys.
Edit: Damnit, hobson sort of beat me to the punch.

Walked a half hour through the snow to class which turns out was a 5 minute exam review... Couldve been avoided if this old fuck professor ever sent out an email & now bus is running 17 minutes late. I really missed this over Thanksgiving break

Teamwork - a core competence that helped me on my journey to selling out.

We're getting life wrong. We should be sitting in ropey bedsits doing almost the same work as we get paid for, but with little enough application to make it impossible to earn an actual living from.
Nobody's pushing the Windows Server support scene forward anymore. These people are all fucking sheep with their standard cluster configurations and HP factory-manufactured hardware. I'm gonna build myself a server out of eggboxes and iron filings, install Ubuntu on it and then sit outside my house hoping that tech-enthusiasts will throw enough coppers at me for a cup of tea.

Get what you're saying, and if you want a career in music, good luck doing it without selling out somehow, it's just sad to see somebody sell out on something as culturally important as art.

There's always someone waiting to take their place who doesn't need to earn a living yet. Musicians get older, have kids, get responsibilities... when my Dad was 19 he worked in a record shop and played drums in experimental jazz combos... by the time he was 35, he was married to a primary school teacher, working as a programmer for IBM and listening to young people playing experimental jazz. My childhood was a lot better because of it. Thanks for selling out, Dad.

If we didn't get so attached to the persona behind the music being played it wouldn't be an issue if they decide to go down a route different from what we originally liked them for. As Magma said, there's always someone coming through to pick up the mantle from them.
The music will live on, so nothing's lost in the end, it's just another rotation of the constant cycle.

How is it any different? still doing it for the bills.
Anyone ever considered the fact that plastician might actually like the music? How can you sell out going from 1 thing you love, to another?
