A Dolby A360, with CAT22 card.
A very old stuff (early 70's(?)), I got almost given from IRCAM (contemporary music research institute in Paris, a big part of PureData language was written there).
It's a processor for tape noise reduction. In rec mode, it adds the "dolby noise" (HF boost + excitement) it's harsh and edgy (noisy distortion), in play mode, it cut some HF, more smoothly. It's a funny stuff. Supposedly you bounce a noisy tape in Rec mode to another one, and then you bounce it back in play mode, and some noise is removed. It's way funnier to misuse it, and use only one mode (especially the REC one). it give the mid range distorted basses DAT SMACK.

So here you go. The demo is a beat of a song I'm working on (minus the sends effects), some Massive-y synth sampled from KoRn and Feed Me (2 hits), and few bars from Blinkesko's winter song remix and Girl from Codeine City.

The level aren't kept on this box, I had to quiet the track for the Rec bounce and bounce back.
So I exported , with "normalize", and let soundcloud do the dithering (feaaaar)
It's one channel and I only have one of these. So all the tracks are mono'd. I'm considering finding a second if IRCAM has some leftovers.

How's the torque? Is the motor strong enough that you can cue pretty decently?

These are the only decks i have used so i am used to them. I would definitely invest in some Technics though :p

Torque is not that much of a problem imo. It's the pitch sensitivity and stability that'll get you on cheap turntables.

Make sure you check your productions on different systems btw, coz although it's a small room.. you're getting some
weird acoustic effects in there.
You're probably getting more emphasis on low frequencies from your left monitor for example.

Well the biggest problem is turntables holding their speed is it not?

these are good for entry level i guess. but even entry level DJing is expensive. I would reccomend a Numark m2 or a Gemini PS2 Mixer (it is best to have a mixer with 2 output channels incase you want to record or have a booth output). Active speakers will save you buying a amplfier. But if you want to play a gig you will need passive speakers and an amp (i had 600W pa speakers in my room for years until i got my rokit rp5's, drove everyone down my street mad). As far as decks go... stylus' (needles) will need replacing quite alot which can be expensive, control vinyls will need replacing couple times a year, lots of faffing around with cables is going to cost you. Simply put, DJing is not a cheap hobby! Sometimes i think to myself, it would be easier just to get CD decks. Thats always a good option. Anyway take into mind what i said about the mixer and speakers =)

Also what AxeD said about stability, these gemini decks are cheap and nasty (tacky plastic and light). Bass rumbles will make them shudder slightly, so unless you place it on some absorbtion sh*t, you are f*cked if it get's loud. I am definitely upgrading to some heavier turntables soon. After new headphones, a coffin case and my god dam driving license (i will pay what ever it takes to get driving!)

I already have CDJ200s and a basic denon mixer....I'm just looking to get into vinyl DJing

ah that sounds cool, i would invest into some 2nd hand technics. Even if it means going on gumtree and driving 2 hours for them. You get what you pay for!

With pitch stability, I mean wether they keep the exact tempo or not.
If the torque is quite low, you can always hold the side of the record to cue.

I never replaced my (2nd hand) needles btw. Still get a pretty decent signal into Traktor, just needs a bit more weight

Im pretty sure my needles were made to break. Then cuz it is a cheap brand and product of turntable, they charge a ton for replacement needles. Turntable = Cheap, Replacement parts = 1/4 price of Turntable
