That's what team matchmaking is for.
I wont pick a support or initiator on a team full of retards because that's a guaranteed loss.
And that's the exact attitude Valve is trying to avoid. Let's say you have the lowest ranking on your team after you queue, but you're a dedicated mid player who excels at the lane. Everyone else on your team will bitch at you saying "don't let the noob go mid" etc etc even though you would perform even worse if you're forced into supporting.
In fact, Dotabuff briefly implemented a public rating system at the beginning of this year and people were getting shit for being "bronze scum" within 24 hours before Valve implemented the privacy shit.
I don't play with a team. I should be able to do the above mentioned stuff in a solo queue.
If you are a dedicated mid player and you are good you won't have shit stats. That's like saying someone is good at math but is failing a math class. If you really are a good player then you would let the more experienced players pick the more important roles. 99% of the time stats will predict how well you can do your job.
Because of the lack of stats people bicker even more and you end up with teams of 5 carries. In over 200 games of dota that i have played maybe a handful have had true supports.

People have been picking team of 5 carries since the days of Dota 1. And back in those day I got kicked from Battle.net pubs before the game started because of how bad my stats were.
I never said they would have bad stats, I said they would have the lowest ranking on their team. No team will ever have five people of the exact same ranking, someone will always have the lowest and if MMR is visible that person will always get the short end of the stick.
deadly habit wrote:While I haven't played it seems DOTA 2 is a game best played with a group of friends or a set team rather than relying on pub matchmaking. Hell that's the case for most games.
You're right, but the difference is much greater in Dota because one player can easily ruin the game for everyone else. It's not like FPSes or something where one person can make huge plays no matter how bad the enemy is.

I dunno I play quite a few games that rely on teamwork and set roles where one person screwing up can result in defeat, just seems like MOBAs are full of some of the most unpleasant gamers around who look for an excuse to rage or be assholes whenever something doesn't go their way, pub games being even worse as you can end up with a bunch of 12 year olds.

Ahh man you got me excited. Thought this was 17 minutes of new gameplay. The second half of the video was put out nearly a year ago and the first part has been out for about 2 months.
Another new Watch Dogs video;
Apologies if it's a again

Yeah don't think that is true, out of the last 12 matches i played my team only lost one (and this was in matchmaking, with random people everytime).

I have definitely noticed a skill increase of people i am matched with recently (simple things like creep blocking, warding, etc.), so don't really feel there is a need to know my level in comparison to other peoples as i can tell that the skill level has increased as my level has.

From what i have experienced the community isn't as bad as everyone makes out. I have had the occasional person being and dick and just raging at his own team and thinking they are amazing but generally the only thing people will do is call their teams 'noobs' if they lose.
Would definitely recommend having a go at the game though, it's really rewarding when you win an evenly matched game. Played a match earlier which took like 64mins and towards the end both teams had a barracks down and it was really back and forward. Was so glad we won.

Started Blacklist ! Definitely more interesting than the last splinter cells in terms of stealth gameplay, already had a few moments when I had to camp and take more than 15 mins to evaluate my options / look at the enemy movements. Story seems quite bait, up til now it's just been extracting assets or informants so I can't really tell. I'm playing panther.
Also I can run it perfectly on my 2yo laptop and it does look quite good !!!

This looks pretty next level, coming out on PC as well; though it will mean I finally have to upgrade my computer by the looks of it.
Love that dystopian setting.

i kind of just want it to be rome total war with better graphics, battles and diplomacy, i never really liked empire or shogun 2, but my biggest problem with them, which was the units all being very similar, shouldnt be an issue.
of course, i wont actually be able to play it for a year or so due to not having any money for a new computer but looking forward to just watching other people play

I'm not having a great time with gaming right now, just not really enjoying new games. They all seem so clunky and unplayable to me.. Only games I'm playing are LoL and Savage XR
Also in the midst of downloading a huge graphics pack for the original Deus Ex
