I'm new here and fell in love with dubstep very recently. I had heard it before but fell in love when I went to my first show about ten days ago.

Four days ago I downloaded the FL Studios demo and have been getting better everyday (spending every hour of free time on it). I've lurked a bit on this forum to get some ideas and to figure out more about the software. I dinked around with it for a couple days. Now I'm in the middle of creating my first song and it's probably taken a total of fifteen hours and I don't see myself wrapping it up for at least five more.

The thing is, I'm not even sure if I can call it dubstep? I've read all about the specifications of the genre. I was trying to make sure I was creating a dubstep song. The further I've come with this project the more I've realized that I don't care if people don't reognize it as dubstep. I made it and if it sounds good, call it what you want.

When I get the extra cash to actually purchase the software, I'll post my first song and see what you guys think.

I'd like to become a part of this comunity and continue to learn more. I have some questions for all of you; about the use of turntables and other hardwares as well as aditional software (not to mention getting more familiar with FL Studios).

Other than that I live in Portland Oregon, I'm 23 and I've never come across anything that has held my attention like this has.

ps. I've heard a lot about the newer style of dubstep being called brostep. Who would you say is producing this? Excision? Skrillex? If so, I have no problem with it lol. Excision's preformance at my first live show was what had me falling in love with dubstep.
ive goot 1200's and a mixer for sale if your looking for turntables, i live close by

Hello,

Name's luke, and I started listening to dubstep/brostep ~1 year ago. I have Razor and FL Studio, but I am waiting to buy a 49 note USB keyboard (bundled with komplete elements for $90 total :D ). I'm influenced by people like deadmau5, skrillex, omnipony (or omnivore), ect. I'm just too lazy to start working on a song atm. ;-)
What has thou done to thy project file?

Anyone else notice a correlation between producers who introduce themselves by saying how old they are first and producers who spam their tracks and just generally come across as douchebags online?

That's why I try to remove all mentions of my age on any sites but DSF, would rather not be like "one of those douchebags"

Hello there! :h:

24-year old aspiring producer from Amerikush, Georgia here. Got introduced into the magical wonders of dub about a year ago and it has completely dominated my life since its inception in my brain. I like listening to a good number of producers like Skrillex, Zomboy, Flux, Doc P, Loadstar, Skeptiks, Klaypex, Knife Party, Delta Heavy, and Bassnectar. Looking forward to meeting new people and learning from you guys. Dooomsday!

Cool man, if you can, you should really listen to the old school tunes with a subwoofer or at least a good pair of headphones!

Check out

Skream
Burial
Mala
Distance
Pinch

That should be enough to get you started! :Q:

Hello!

I am Kyle and I am new here!

I love to lurk and get all the information I can soak up, especially since you are all so helpful!

Thanks for helping even without knowing it ;)

It helps as I am trying to work on my passion for music production, love it and it is a great learning experience!

No song released yet but I am working on my first tune and would love the harsh feedback from this community, as you are all so great!

*MUCH BETTER THAN SCHOOL* ;D

Cheers!

Hi guys! My name's Marc. I've been producing Hardcore (Gabber) for the last 3 years proffesionally, releasing on two well respected labels in this time. But, over the last year my love for the music has basically died. So, I'm going to test my skills on Dubstep. I'll admit, I'm a complete n00b to this style of music, but I'm really interested in finding out as much as I can. So, just wanted to say hello and nice to meet you all.

Hi, I'm getting into producing electronic music.
I haven't been doing it long but I've playing other types of music for awhile.
As soon as I have some decent stuff I'd love to hear from people who are much more knowledgeable than I am.
Thanks for Reading!
