@donpablo : I like this track. The intro section is interesting, and the little clipped piano loop is great, but the change up to the first drop 0:42, you need to bring in the kicks high-passed or volume fade or similar to build tension, when it drops, there's no sub it seems. I am not a fan of the section from 1:23 onwards, I can see what you wanted to do but it doesn't fit with everything else. In fact, I'd swap that section with the transition at 2:04 and re-work the previous section. The piano needs to keep going because it's an interesting element (perhaps snatch some other parts of the loop). Overall production is great and clean, I just want to hear more sub.

Mikeyp:
Love this tune, dark vibes, but I really do hate that synth. It probably wouldn't annoy me so much if there was one or 2 others breaking it up, but the overall vibe, melody I like.
donpablo:
It's not bad man, love that snare! Wasn't feeling the synth at the start but as the tune progressed it got better. Actually really dig this, haha. Drop is nice too, seems SLIGHTLY lacking in the bass department tho! Some cool sounds in there, nice one bro.
Darj:
Love the percussion in the start, with the strings. Vocals are lovely too. Love when that high-bassy-synth thing kicks in, then more lovely drums Only thing thats bugging me IS the strings after a while, not enough variation in there, would love to hear some more accidentals and instruments accompanying them. Loving the vibe tho!
Something I cooked up in the past hour haha, just for fun! Soundcloud

I finished this tonight and need some pointers, or someone to point out what's acceptable and what needs work in my song. Soundcloud
Thanks!
nnny - Wow, I REALLY LIKE this. It got better after awhile. At 1.53 is where I love it. The guitars, the modulated thing in the back, the vocal cut. Maybe simply change it up, make it a little longer.
XeniK - Don't like anything in the buildup. The sounds after the drop are better.

have fun while listening and feedback would be nice...

@XeniK
-It's a bit too noisy. Turn everything down a bit. The drums are clipping a lot, but I like the synths and the samples. It's also a bit repetitive, and ends rather quickly.
@Eldoogie
Drum sounds are a little bland. You need better cymbals. When the ride comes in at 14 seconds, the tempo of the song suggests it would hit about half that amount, so half time on the cymbal. Other than that, the synths are appetizing, as is the buildup with the cutoff automation. Drop needs to be about 50000 times harder and heavier. You need more percussion in there too to give it kind of a swing vibe. Watch Rusko's masterclass video on Youtube; Helped me a lot. I could do without the synth at 3:40. Your song, not mine. Also, I gotta give you props on one thing; I'm waiting for my file to finish transcoding on Soundcloud, and your song has already finished, but I can't get that bassline out of my head. Well done.
Okay guys, this one I'm pretty proud of. Sort of a dubsteppy house vibe. I know the mixing sucks, but I'm "mixing" with crap headphones, so I apologize, but this is the template of something I'm working on. Should I add more synths, make the drop heavier, continue it? Is it too short? All those answers, please! ^.^

Thanks for the feedback R3N3gAD3. I agree that I need more swing so I'll watch that Rusko masterclass. Also I'm glad the baseline stuck in your head, one of my top objectives when writing my songs is to make sure they stick in your head as soon as possible.
@ R3N3gAD3 - Right now I'm listening on my headphones which aren't the best for detecting a good mix, but latter I'll try and listen to your song on my monitors. I couldn't get into until .45, and the intro I didn't like for sure. But it's after .45 now and I'm liking it. 1.15 has a good melody maybe the back round sound could be a little louder and maybe a little louder, but not as wide as the stabs on the 'and beats', (1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and). Even from my headphones I think your mix needs a lot of work, but you aren't bad sound design wise. Transitions could be a little better too, and maybe an outro. You could use crashes or fills or mini-builds before you transform into the next section if it's any different. And I do think it's a little short, but the outro might fix that.

You'll get nothing until you provide feedback on THREE pieces yourselves.
Not to mention I complained about this 3 or 4 posts up. This thread is waste.

@ nnny - Hey man, thats a really nice little piece of work there mate, sounds really sweet on my cans. Cant really offer any crits on it tbh.
@ Xenik - Haha yes, nice effort so far, not normally into this type of sound, but this has got some potential to be big. Found myself yurning for lots more going on, syntns could do with sharpening up somewhat, same for the snare/clap too.
Certainly look forward to hearing the finished article.
@ Donpablo - This is insane, excellent energy here, really had my head nodding esp @ 1.50. Again as i said on someone elses, the snare/clap could really do with bringing out in the mix, want to hear some big snap on that. Apart from that, great work so far!!
Here be my little effort, some Techno Dubstep bizzo, hope you enjoy...

Hey everyone, been lurking for a while because there is great info on this site, I havent produced anything thats really dubstep but I love the music and would like to incorporate some of its elements into my music. Anyways Ill post my first almost finished track up and would love input even though it isn't really dubstep.
@Jacob15728 I really like the slower sound your tune has and the drop is pretty sweet, seeing as I'm not a real producer or anything I really dont have any advice, sounds better than anything I think I could do.
@donpablo The builds are great and the track sounds pretty huge, I would love to hear it from some really LOUD speakers, The end is a little abrupt to me, not sure if you have finished that part or if its just my taste.
@Darj Your song IS super chill. Really like the vocals, is it a vocalist you know or a sample? Sounds great either way.
Here is my track, I'm still planning on changing quite a bit with the drums and maybe add a couple more elements any advice/input would be great! http://soundcloud.com/jamesclarke-4/dar ... remastered Soundcloud
Also just so everyone knows, the song isn't mastered at all, the name is in reference to the Star Wars films, my good friend has written lyrics about being a sith lord that will be mixed in eventually. Yes I'm aware we are nerds.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, producing chill stuff is very pleasant ! You learn a lot on it. For the vocals : It is a crappy sample pack i found somewhere, the main sample is just a woman singing a long sentence. i've cut the words i wanted and added effects ont it.

Seriously, everyone on this thread should watch the masterclass... Best advice I ever got on drums.

Not gonna repost my track, but it's on this page if you guys wouldn't mind doing some feedback.
Second round of feedback.
@Darj: Bro, those vocals are NOT in key. You gotta pitchshift the vocals, or change the synth key, but it sounds distracting with the vocals being out of key.
@nnny: Ahaha, I'm loving the flamenco vibe with the drums. Drums have a bit too much reverb, bit too much 1100k in the eq range, not quite enough thud. Then again, I'm listening on Macbook speakers, which are horrible, so xD
@Echoi: Loving the smooth moombahton drum feel, not sure it fits the song though. Still waiting for a drop. The percussion is impressive, the chords and melody, not so much.

just started this one today, havent had any time to produce while at school but reason 6 gave me some motivation. i made a few really nice bass patches as well (i have not implemented them in the song yet). think this is worth continuing?
