I think it can mean meditating and self-improvement as well, I'm no expert tho

Hving said that, I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as astrology

i sort of "believe" in "planes" tbf, not in some cosmic force type way but i see where they stem from if you view each plane as an extension of consciousness, i dont live by it or anything close to that, but it's interesting applying the theories to your everyday life to see if they make sense or not.

just different minds sets and personas and shit and states, dreams being a plane, superstitions being another, waking life, inner thought, public persona, primal thoughts etc.
