Etymology

The English word hummus comes from Turkish humus meaning the hummus food dip or spread, which in turn comes from Arabic حمّص ḥummuṣ, in turn derived from ḥimmaṣ "chickpeas". The earliest known attestation for hummus in English is in 1955. Spellings of the word in English can be inconsistent. Among the spellings are hummus, hummous houmous, hommos, humos, hommus, hoummos, etc. The spelling humus is generally avoided in English as it is a homonym of humus (organic matter in soil), though this is the usual Turkish spelling and the Oxford English Dictionary indicates the word entered the English language from Turkish.

I was just thinking about music and its science -- bear with me bc u know i've taken my share of pleasure geeking out over music theory -- but it pretty much goes, people do something that sounds nice > they learn it and theorize it > it gets studied and assimilated > science backs up the theories with harmonics and wavelengths and, in a broader sense, our ears and our interpretation of sounds

Math and physics are both integral to rhythm/melody (and harmony) .. the rest is human trial -- phrasing, arranging, orchestrating, juxtaposing, superimposing. etc.

And even for harmony, a lot of the physical phenomena happening in the air when things sound good, is really wrapped up in those fundamental notes and their undertones/overtones interactions with one another in space and in our eardrums.
notes that harmonize nicely vibrate in our eardrums at a pleasing ratio..? i guess, so...
So it could be said that good, captivating musicians who write/improvise (not those who only read n play) , have heightened competence in detecting this science, processing it, analyzing and using it etc. as part of their brain or mind type or whatever
it's like being good at languages, but one that's super flexible, subjective, and intuitive. like Miles Davis, who could play an off note straight off the top of a solo, and with the next phrase , sufficiently rationalize it to our ears, theory books, and the little numbers in the harmonic wavelengths :glasses:

In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the police who investigate crime and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories.
