I'm sure they have their place...I'm no expert but my gfs brother is a rugby player and he's massive and also does personal training and he is huge and always stayed away from them...essentially it seems unnatural to me and that surely can never be safe...but like I said I am no expert in that area

I'm pretty sure alot of that protein stuff is whey, which is just a dairy product - I do know alot of people who say to stay away from certain brands/types, but never touched the stuff myself (as is patently obvious).

ennit, like how did people/neanderthals get big and strong enough to do what they do and live before protein shakes came along. Pretty sure gorillas dont drink protein shakes and they are hench as fuck!

Without taking anything else into consideration (because I cba getting into this) the idea of taking glucose tablets instead of a protein source in order to build muscle is 100% insane.

ye not everyo ne needs em really, u can achieve the same thing by eatnig the right food but they help people who have naturally fast metabolisms and stuff.
u can get some that are unnatural but like that guy said they just contain stuff thats already in food. some of em have creatine in and if u pure rinse those ones then ur body stops naturally producing creatine and u become a mollusk

Protein and glucose aren't even in the same ballpark as far as goal goes. And why take a glucose tablet if you could just have a banana? Or 2 cups of black coffee?

Protein shakes are made out of any "natural" protein source, usually milk based (whey or cassein). It's probably more "natural" than storebought milk.

Of course you can get big without them. But with most protein sources, there's also a lot of fat in there, which isn't bad, but if you have a carefully calibrated diet, having a "pure" protein source is a quick and convenient and tasty way to have a properly balanced diet. But shit, if you can get the protein you want without it get it. It's no better or worse than drinking a large bottle of milk. Well, with less bloat, lactose and fat.

Rugby players are big because they eat a lot and stimulate their muscles. They would be with or without a protein shake and they definitely would be without a glucose pill.

Pretty much. It gets a bad rep for being associated with meathead wogs but any trainer or nutritionist will tell you it's a good idea to have it after a workout. People treat it like it's a fucking steroid or something.

Also Protien powder is good because eating a shit load of meat or drinking a shit load of milk is the only other way to get more in your system and that shit is expensive (by comparison)
