@olliescott

i like this one a lot. it's very in keeping with the clunky sort of techno sound that's popular right now but it has a nice twist that makes it stand out. i'm not a huge fan of the effects on the vocal sample but everything else seems pretty good.

@rayman612

i'm a sucker for grainy piano samples so this is right up my alley. i could see myself listening to this a lot when i spend days inside working and reading. i might bring the bass up slightly more in the mix...it feels a bit buried to me.

here's one i composed over a few hours yesterday and today. very different from my usual style, and about 40 bpm faster than i usually do. feedback is appreciated!

benq: really liking the vibes in your track! nice and eerie vibe you really nailed - i would probably work a little on that snare in the track! perhaps eq it a little or just lower the actual volume - it takes a bit too much command for my liking
the soundscape is stunning!

I think this was my first go at making a proper dance tune. Nov 2011 fucking hell! I guess his standards have gone up since then haha. I want a tune on Onlyvibez :evil:

@variete - love the bass in that one, also like how its deep but the variation in it keeps the tune interesting, big tune!

Here's a bootleg I did of Kingdom, kind of feel like I'm getting fucked in the arse by all this mainstream sounding housey stuff that's popular now but I enjoyed making it so I'm not sorry

@Hordes I definitely dig how the synths and vocals work together. What turned me off was the simple use of 808ish hats, rimshots and whatnot. That's of course just my 2 cents, I'm usually turned off by drum kits that sound just the way they're incorporated in the software.

Here's my tune >>> https://soundcloud.com/signal-shot/swamp

It's more of an eclectic approach to beatmaking, there are tons of people who won't like this but I think it's worth the post and I am interested in what people will think about this.

thank you, tenebriated!

OllieScott, the hats have a nice clean mix, the drums are tight. As far as mixing goes I can't really find anything that would upset me. I have only one little problem with your track, and it's probably because of my general taste in music. It just stays in the same place, never goes forward, does not advance, it does not take me places. It just seems to me that we're stepping in the exact same place where we started out. You should be more wild with it, take it a step further, don't just variate on your loops. Change the whole structure, play around, that sort of stuff. That's my two cents. :)

This track totally took me by surprise, really interesting vibe. A lot of pressure created. Whilst not strictly a dancefloor track I would play it's defo something I would listen to - a long the lines of my precious Boxcutter album vinyls. It's hard to critique these tracks as it's always muddy as to what is mistake/error and what is deliberate. I would say personally the LFO'd synth needs a bit of a blend into the track, it sounds kind of jarring until the 2nd bar where your brain kinda catches the rhythm. That was my first impression anyway on 2nd listen through I'm already used to it so maybe I'm wrong here. Cracking production tho.

I wouldn't feel so bad about the mainstream stuff just yet - defo know what you mean tho. It is getting to "that point" very quickly init. This track works well tho. Good booty. My crit would be the lead synth gets a bit dry as there's only one break toward the end of the track where it's not playing. Maybe try experimenting with adding some bridges in your track to strip back the sounds and keep the lead fresh.

This is a cracking track, would confidently say I'd play this out. Yeah perhaps its a bit of "much the same" (honestly no offence intended I'm just as bad) with the chord stabs but you know what it's a great vibe with a lot of energy on the 2nd drop I would happily brock out and throw my Red Stripe over someone to this. Whilst I feel the low end is mixed well on this I feel you could bring some mid out on the kick just with a very small Q popping at like 2000hz or somthing. Just my opinion but it feels like to me that kick is screaming to pop into the mix and really compliment your energy but it's being held back. Other than that, sick work.

Impressed by the 3 random tracks I picked above, as always. Community here is sick.

So anyway here is my latest effort:

Defo on the more club scene kinda house vibe (aka: generic) but I had mental fun making it and managed to get an old acid house sample in there, points to anyone who knows the original record. ;-)

tenebriated - reese is HUGE, kick fits in real nice in mix, hats @ 1:00 are mad dope, big tune bro

ollie - hats are real nice, effects on vocal are real dope, bassline is TUFFF, maybe if u add a static/atmospheric thing underneath would push over the edge

capture - DOPE chords, bassline is real nice, dont like the skitchy vocal cuts by themselves w/o the hats, dont like the snare after 1:30 either, wouldve loved 2 just hear those chords roll for like 7 minutes tbh lol

Veeery much in progress, but essentially a vaguely house based 99 bpm tune based around hendrix samples. Could go somewhere if I dont fuck it out.
