@maccavli they I guess I dont know a fuck about the history of dubstep. Im very familiar with Digital Mystikz but I never placed them in the same category. Like I said before, I never place music in a category, so I would never know that thats dubstep. If your going to get into the roots of the genre then I could honestly care less. History class sucked in high school and it still sucks now. I just want to make the music that sounds good to my ears lol. Im not interested in its origins or anything like that. I respect all producers as a whole in general. All there doing is making music for people to listen to, and theres nothing wrong with that. So even if I think the music sucks, I still have respect for most artists anyways

i guess Im more into the party side of dubstep. Call it gay whatever I really dont care. Its what I grew up around and its what I know. Everyone here seems to like a different type of sound. And to be honest I didnt even know there was something that rivaled UKF. To be honest, Im going to see Porter Robinson and Liquid Stranger in a couple of weeks, and after that Im gong to see Knife party. Apparently that puts me on some sort of defcon level five gayness level situation, and thats fine.

The awkward moment when you join DSF and get your whole perception of dubstep and EDM shattered in 15 minutes...

Look Cyrex, if there's one conclusion that we can draw from this whole thing it's that you don't like dubstep.

@ ehbrums yea EDM is a genre. I dont go and further break it down into categories. Example (trust me, I dont really like rap but its good for an example): Soulja Boy and NWA are both rappers(groups). I dont put NWA in hardcore rap category and Soullja Boy in mainstream. Its all the same to me.

@ mac lol no idea what dsf is but apparently I dont like dubstep. I still think you guys are taking it from more of a roots perspective rather than the current trend. And I respect that. Datsik, Ry Legit, Calvertron, Knife Party (sometimes), JPhelpz, J Rabbit, Chrispy, Figure, Vaski; I consider that to be dubstep.

So wait, if you don't care about genres and categories why did you try to argue that Anti-War Dub isn't dubstep?

Wow, I just hopped on this thread and saw this ........

I'm honestly making a huge effort to be more polite and courteous on this forum as of late, but I don't know if I can take this....I'm scared to view the previous page to see what this guy has said. I'm just going to ignore it all together so I don't lose my shit.

Because to me, thats like saying Bob Marley makes dubstep. Im obviously going to say no he fucking doesnt. Thats all that that was. I dont care about all the Skrillex style arguments about what category this or that belongs to. But something like that song you put up..No I really dont see it. Like I said, history class sucks then and it sucks now. I respect the genres roots but I movewith the times and give credit when its do

lol say what you gotta say its not going to hurt my feelings. I already get the gist of the atmosphere here. I clearly have a different take on "dubstep". Its all EDM to me.
Its sad everyone has these stupid arguments about music. Just enjoy the shit. If you read back to previous posts, all this came about because I thought King Kong by datsik and bare was a good song lol its all music get over it.

Well Bob Marley was a reggae singer who died about 20 years before dubstep came around, and Digital Mystikz were among the first 10 or so people to be making dubstep, so, uh, no, it's not like saying that at all.

It's 140bpm, has heavy sub-bass and has obvious influences from dub and 2-step garage. Explain to me how that is in some way not dubstep?

I take AP history do I suck too?
Let's do a simple little flow chart to be learning

Bob marley -> reggae -> dub -> dubstep
Not saying dub directly evolved into dubstep but you can see what I'm getting at

Yea it cleared the way for dubstep I get it. It helped transform it into what it is today. And todays dubstep is the dubstep I listen to. Not old school founding fathers dubstep. If you like it then thats cool. Im not about the argument. I really dont care lol I personally dont like that type of...dubstep...

@ehbams Yea thats my point...its two completely different genres.

@ehbams Yea thats my point...its two completely different genres. Your getting hung up on the bob marley. I just randomly said that. Here lets try again: To me thats like saying Madonna is dubstep. Meaning to me, there is absolutely no way that I would consider that dubstep.
