I absolutely agree with you. Kode 9 is a troll. But in a good way.

I don't really read or post on this forum very much anymore but looked to this thread to find samples of the release and check what people thought of it.
And holy shit is this discussion stupid. The guy's an artist, like any other, and can put out what he likes. You are all having a huge circlejerk.
I sort of thought Kode 9 was trolling on twitter talking about Burial Zombies and stuff. Guess not.
People, it's just music. And it sounds like good music.

Yeah, it's good music but it isn't as visceral and raw as his early stuff. Truant sounds like a huge tune, but no way can you compare it to something like broken home.
Edit: Just managed to score some WAV rips of these tunes, and oh my god that sub is huge! Burial has returned to his old dance-oriented style, and although these tracks are great, I just can't compare it to his original stuff on the Burial LP. Maybe the fame got to his head, I don't know.

No mate, people are discussing music and their thoughts on it. If you can't handle it then maybe a music forum isn't for you. If Kode 9 can't handle people discussing music, which he obviously can, then perhaps releasing music isn't for him.
I don't agree with most of what's been said in this thread, but it is a fucking forum after all. People are gonna talk.

Poor relaks doesn't understand the concept of a discussion forum in 2012. How cute.

every burial thread should have MAXIMUM 2 pages and all replies should be
"great" "i love burial" "this is the same as all his other releases and i love them all"
IMO

I don't get it what is the problem with someone who isn't completely satisfied with a new release and shares it.
Yeah let's just call it stupid, rather than just write your own opinion.

My opinion is you folks are all slating a release you've barely even had time to digest. Give it a minute. The release date isn't even til monday.
From my point of view this forum has a pretty juvenile and negative slant talking about music these days and, though it's silly to bring up, it didn't use to be like that.
You've all been salivating for a new Burial release, just enjoy it for a goddamn minute.
These are just my two cents, and you can all go back to discussing the nuances of burial's cowbell sample, how poorly selected his vocals are and how offended you are by Kode 9.

No, you're trying to elevate yourself above people that are talking about music on a forum designed for it. I've said nothing but positive things about the release. I absolutely love it. The tunes are out now by the way.
There's probably just as many in this thread saying good things about it as there are saying bad things about it, and that's fine, not everybody likes every tune.
If I had mates that actually liked this sort of music and I spoke to them about it, I wouldn't expect the convo to go "You heard Tune XYZ?", "Yeah, good tune bruv", "Yeah, it's good." and move on, don't see why DSF should be any different, let alone be that fucking boring.

Everyone discussing different things, what is the problem with that? Kode 9 thing is just a joke, maybe keta take it seriously
I love the record and i'm happy with that but i want to share some of my thoughts, but i'm feel like now that i'm a jerk because of this...

not listened to this yet, but i've been rinsing kindred lately and the idea that it's cheesy is laughable.
also laughable is the same old "URHURHURUR PEOPLE DISCUSSING MUSIC IS STUPID MUSIC IS SUBJECTIVE"
so is politics and morality, and in fact, most things. even the objective is subject to discussion. if you don't think the subjective should be discussed, or discussed forcefully, then shut up, cos your opinion on the subjectivity of music is also a subjective opinion, as is your judgment on the value of having strong opinions on the subjective.
i mean, jesus.

like the previous guy said, crying poverty doesn't automatically make you entitled to everything. it doesn't give you the right to share links to music on a popular web forum, where people care about the artists and labels, especially for a release that literally was released a few hours ago. now get banned, thx.
on a side note: equating having a credit card with a recognised bank with being civilized: crass imperialism. fuck you. i hope providence gifts the kid from buenos aires with a pirated CD of burial's entire discography.

Relaks, just relax. Some of us are having a serious discussion about this release, if you can't even handle that, go to the kiddie forum. Having said that, there are always outrageous reactions in these threads, but generally the discussion was well behaved and you are making an argument where there is none, drawing non-existant comparisons to earlier days of the board.

LEAVE BURIEL ALOEN :'0
...no, but really, Burial is tha mothafucking mann and that will never change, but that doesn't mean that people can't be critical of this new shit. Regardless of how you feel about the new trax (as in this EP and Kindred), it's undeniable that there has been a stylistic shift of sorts. Both in terms of the rhythms and the viebs being less pessimistic and dark. You can't blame people for preferring/missing that shit.

i think as listeners we have to give burial the time to put out not-so-good (in some peoples opinion) material with the faith that in time he'll release stuff on par with 'Burial' LP or 'Untrue'. also his first releases were so great and ground breaking that its almost as if we get disappointed when his new releases aren't so spectacular. fuck give him a break. you may hate kindred or everything after Untrue but at least give him the chance to put out some below par releases before you jump on his back. furthermore listen to these new tunes for a month or so then make a judgement, i hated burial when i first listened to it. fucking love everything he's released now...

Kindred and Truant are both ground breaking IMO. Who else is putting out releases of a similar style, in the "mixtape" format? Not many I can think of.
People are forgetting that there are a lot of people making very similar sounds to those he had on Untrue, and to some extent, Burial, and some people say doing them better. This way he's stayed fresh and above everybody else.
