I think you'd have a hard time convincing Mala of all people to give up wax. :p

Got the cd copy and the clipping people are talking about on beauty actually sounds like it's down to one industrial type sample that plays throughout the tune, it sticks out from the mix and sounds full of nasty frequencies. Definitely gives the impression that the track is clipping but I don't think it is.

As for the comments on the bass not sounding right, on the whole record the mid bass is mixed pretty quiet as opposed to tearing your face off 16bit style. I'd say this was a mix decision rather than a fault.

s'not what ive always heard. Its hard to say anything about mastering engineers though cos they are sort of like the mafia bosses, with the power to fuck your sounds up lol

Maybe silkie pissed someone off and they were getting their own back?

Anyway I dont want to insight hate or anything but transition is well over-rated imo. If you want ridiculous bass then by all means they are the ones but silkie isn't all about that is he....

Transition mastered the record, they didn't press it. Lets get that clear. The pressing plant pressed the record.

They don't put ridiculous bass into the music, the producer does. Putting it broadly they just accentuate what is already there and correct as much as possible anything that shouldn't be . Don't really see where they figure in this at all. Their final masters would have been approved by silkie and deep medi before going anywhere near the pressing plant.

I'm no fanboy but lets not get the wrong end of the stick here.........

got my copy in today from Redeye....

and i got a bad copy too : (

i was going to get the cd as well so it's not that big of a deal as shit happens out of peoples control sometimes.

i kinda always thought the dubs of some of these songs weren't always "full" sounding anyway, but musically brilliant none the less. i can live with a bit of crackle and fuzz...

you can really hear in the headphones, but when i crank my stereo and dont "listen" for it you can't really tell all that much...should probably sound fine out in the club (most systems where i play aren't that dialed in anyway...)

big up to the deep medi gang though it's great to finally own these tunes!

got the test/purple love 12" and that sounds excellent.

: )

Absolutely smashing launch party last night. Ive been struggling at work all day as a result!

Can anyone tell me the name of the tune Silkie played just before Purple Love?

Big big tune! Wanna find out!!!

Man, i'm really gutted about this.

Don't know what to do either. I don't want to send it back only to get another bad copy. I've done this before with another bad vinyl and after 3 different vinyls coming back all fucked I just gave up.

:( :( :( :(

got the CD and all sounds OK to me, it is a seriously awesome album, love every tune and its well put together and flows really nicely.

Feel really sorry for Silkie though, all that time and effort then a really bad press :x

I sat down to record the record to wav and it was really blown out basswise. I tried to lower it to a manageable level and it still would give me a bad recording.

The vinyl is dodgy no question over the quallity of my equipment. After nine years of mixing i know when a stylus is worn.
