Care to fill those in for this Mr. Knell? ;) You told me to give you a prod when I decided to put a tune up in here, so here you are:
Photek - Fake ID (Wrexile Wremix) in mp3 @ 320kbps

Download one, download all. [Dub]Step right up and listen to the sounds of a Wremix for that Photek remix comp that I didn't end up entering

that 1st track is pretty good the drums need some strength but i like the vibes from it. the 2nd tracks bassline is too jittery for my likes it needs to be more stable to vibe with

Geeza - "Regiment"

props:
+those intro samples are rasta-filth! they make me want to stand up on my coffee table and scream "BUMBACLOTTTTTT!!!!!"
+teaser synth is well done, got me on my toes (well im sitting, so my rump-toes... wait that sounds weird and gross..)
+when the drums come in, they make me feel like there's a massive beast in the distance coming to eat me... head nodder fo sho
+drops are the bounciest i've heard in a long time! im definitely gonna have to attempt to do something similar and name it after ya
+just so much fun!

advice:
-is there a reason that initial sample and all reprises are panned right? sounds fine just a little strange
-almost want that bass to be heavier... but im sure in the club i would take that back
-feels like the hats are panned right as well, and the snares mainly panned left? maybe im losing my mind?
-vox samples come dangerously close to getting rinsed by the end of the song
-i think if the bomb sample in the main drop were EQed to be a little more boomy and earth shaking (or maybe just replaced with a boom sweep) and less white-noisy-crispy, would definitely be more facemelting, but thats the knell bias for ya

overall:
=so freakin classic! well done man, this brought to mind a thousand little rastas dancing around my head shaking their dreds and bouncing like a hyper kid on a joggle board...
all i have left to say is "GEEEEEEEEEEEEEZAAAAAAAAA"

Knell I checked out your new tracks in the Myspace. Good stuff - as usual I've got nowt to say as its damn crisp. Hertz is definitely your best track on the space. Awesome vowel bass on the JahRobot too man. Sorry but if you want better feedback write shitter songs... lol

Cairo - "Lottery Mentality (Cairo RMX)"

props:
+you got the vibe of the original quite well! glad you kept the dreamy vocal breaks but added reverb
+bass is warm and warbly, fits this track well! i like it more than some of the soft wasp synths
+panning break (@2:10) is done very well
+jumps back in at the perfect moment for me after that break
+decent automation for the second drop

advice:
-eh, the drums... if you're going for a chillout mix of the original, you're spot on... but to be honest it would take quite a bit of work to top the drums in the original.. i think you could do it but it would take many more grace notes and surprises
-second drop left me wanting more, not really feelin the groove
-main bass is well done (that was my only prob with the original) but you need something like that deep synth that soft wasp brings in second to really capture the darkness
-drags just a bit, trancey but would remind me that my legs are tired once the song hits 4:30 or so..
-was looking for variation or a deeper darker synth to come in, the automation in the second drop is leaning in the right direction

overall:
=i like this mix! you definitely hit the nail on the head with the main bass.. however i'd work on those drums! people that have heard the original would be looking for you to step it up and try and top them, which would be a feat but would result in EPICness... also, with a deeper bass with less resonance layered or alternated, this would DESTROY... really headed in the right direction tho!!

much love :w: :w:

much love man that made my day... they're demos for the most part so im fattening them up in the studio, but glad to hear they got you groovin so far!!!

actually got my first "real people" fans this week that arent bands adding me for my kind words and numbers on their friends list...
and i've got to say.... damn, thats a feckin awesome feeling when real person adds you because they like your music!!

First of all thanks so much for the review really appreciate it.

The panning your on about was a suggestion by a friend, dont think I pulled it off as well as I wanted to I think i re done the reason file but didnt bother to upload cos the file I have so biased to either left or right.

Yeah i think that boom sample does need a bit of work just my laziness came into play there woops it doesnt have that oomph that i wanted but just couldnt be arsed in the end 8)

Yeah your not the 1st person to say drop some vox samples thats deffo the way forward.

I will finally get round to reviewing the 1st track on your myspace (sorry i forget the name my bad) .

Thanks for another brill review with great advice. Also if you have time could you review Concience my latest track. I feel this one may not be my best track in terms of listener enjoyabilty but maybe the best production wise. A review would be great on that. it a few pages back or on the soundcloud in the sig.

Peace man and look out for the review of your tracks Im gunna do very very soon as in now :D

Knell - Hertz

Leads synths are really kool, i like the ibiza style to them if you catch my drift, it gave me a feeling of not knowing where this is going, dub, grime, house confusing but in a good anticipation way.

Like the drum pattern very bouncy and head noddy. the extra samples really make it bounce along good stuff.

The bass is great I like the wobble a lot just my type of wobble. As you have heard on mine you know i like fucking about with the rate and you pulled this off perfectatly

As ive said before i feel this is going more in a grime direction and maybe an orchestral sample here and there would bring more variety to the track but then again it may take something away from it. not to sure on this one.

All in all a great track i cant fault the production brilliant sir :P
