Re: The SNH Football thread
Tbh, it's Christmas for Mancini. He's going to get paid handsomely and walk into a job at some other 'prestige' club without a stain on his record and he won't have to deal with the politics at the Etihad anymore... everyone knows that winning two Premiership titles in a row is borderline impossible against Ferguson.
It's the club getting fucked.
Which is a..... shame....

From the Man City forum;

Re: The SNH Football thread
I see where everyone's coming from but tbh mancini's been a pretty shit manager, especially this season. Tactically uninspired and he has a pretty abrasive personality so relations with the players and board seem to have been pretty poor.
With pellegrini and mourinho in charge next year i reckon it's odds on for city and chelsea to be top 2

Re: The SNH Football thread
Arsenal the only club in top 4 with a stable manager now.
The time is right? Spend some money Arsene

I think Arsenal need to miss out on 4th spot, and then they might spend some money. If they end up scraping into the CL again then theyll think theyve got enough to scrape in again next year.

Top players wont come to a europa club unless you pay massive wages, which Arsenal don't doLA_Boxers wrote:I think Arsenal need to miss out on 4th spot, and then they might spend some money. If they end up scraping into the CL again then theyll think theyve got enough to scrape in again next year.

I don't think i can handle tottenham w/ champions league cash. they'll keep bale, buy more players, be even more competitive next year.LA_Boxers wrote:I think Arsenal need to miss out on 4th spot, and then they might spend some money. Has any manager under Abramovich lasted as long as 3 and a half years? City are a joke, but Chelsea are a joke x10magma wrote:Insane. Man City are Chelsea in Fast Forward.Dead Rats wrote:Mancini sacked.
Unbelievable. Sacked because he 'missed most of the targets set' - by finishing second in the league and being the runners up in the FA Cup.
Man City were fucking pony a few years ago, Footballs gone mad mate.
Champion's League or not, Arsenal are no longer a draw for the top players. The fact they've been haemorrhaging their best players, often to their rivals, for the last 3-4 years kinda shows that.southstar wrote:Top players wont come to a europa club unless you pay massive wages, which Arsenal don't doLA_Boxers wrote:I think Arsenal need to miss out on 4th spot, and then they might spend some money. Re: The SNH Football thread
also to say Arsenal haven't got the pull for top players any more is fucking ridiculous.
Yeah we have lost key players, but its also partly cos we have let them go as have got great returns for them money wise. There has been no money worth speaking about to spend as we have paid for Emirates, but that has literally just been cleared, coupled with new TV deals AND brand new 150m sponsorship deal, arsenal will definitely be investing heavily this off season. our squad with 70m or even 50m investment will compete
arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in england, 2nd biggest and newest stadium, established worldwide fan base, fourth most valuable football club in the world, most consecutive champ league qualifications in europe, one of the most respected managers in world football, the premier league's best ever squad in the last 10 years.....
you're having a laugh if you think big players would rather go to some soulless stnuc like city with no heritage in the modern era just because they won a championship. If we show serious signs of investment this summer, we'll get whoever we want within reason

Re: The SNH Football thread
look at some of the players who've gone to city, it's not about the trophy it's about the money and while everything you're saying about Arsenal is fair players are pretty well known for thinking with their wallets. Like they signed Nasri, Toure and Clichy from youmurky21 wrote: you're having a laugh if you think big players would rather go to some soulless stnuc like city with no heritage in the modern era just because they won a championship. Re: The SNH Football thread
yeah we sold those stnuc. thats different to not getting players in the first place. if we flopped the checkbook out to a top player, they aint gonna turn it down cos we're not an attractive proposition, because we are. we just haven't made the offers at all over the last 8 years cos of financial reasons stated above

Got a feeling Villa are pretty much safe but it's still too close for comfort, especially with Benteke missing the last game.... don't really fancy watching Championship football next season tbh.

£100 mil to spend this summer. I'm almost certain that Jovetic is on his way here too.
Mike Dean in charge tonight btw.

Arsenal have won just one of their last 17 Premier League matches with Mike Dean as the referee.

We're safe unless results go against us and we lose by more than 11 goals at home to Stoke for our last game
Re: The SNH Football thread
It's more about who they actually end up buying after. Wenger used to have an eye for non-established superstars, now he kind of goes for safer bets with less potential and almost no potential to make a profit from when sold.Champion's League or not, Arsenal are no longer a draw for the top players. The fact they've been haemorrhaging their best players, often to their rivals, for the last 3-4 years kinda shows that.
It's only the Arsenal players that have been in the club for a longer period that make a profit when sold on.
Also the players he decided on recently, haven't been players that can be sold on to the immediate competition, but players that would have to have their price tags dropped if the below top six clubs where to consider even looking at them. If you keep in mind that pl clubs generally pay higher wages, you can see how there's more sence in being able to sell to another pl club than a foreign one.
The most important aspect of why Arsenal is so unbelievably shaky at times, is that Wenger seems to have forgot that you need a captain on a team. You can always just choose the loudest.
* unless you can keep selling players to the stupid juve direction that seem to want poor attackers. Not just Bendtner, juve pry themselves on having attackers that are overpriced and dont score.

I always thought it was Wenger now wanting to spend what was available and being strict about the wage structure. It's kind of admirable and I know you had the emirates to pay for but that's about done and I didn't think you were taking the money from the player accounts.murky21 wrote:yeah we sold those stnuc. thats different to not getting players in the first place. if we flopped the checkbook out to a top player, they aint gonna turn it down cos we're not an attractive proposition, because we are. we just haven't made the offers at all over the last 8 years cos of financial reasons stated above
