Here's my humble setup

Yeh it's pretty good mate, I'm glad I went with it! There are a few negatives like you can't use a microphone when both turnies are being used, and a coulpa other little gripes but I don't know if that's me not being aware of how to fix it! Powerful mixer like effect and loop wise and the knobs feel quality!

What headphones are those, are they any good, and how did you break them?
I'm looking for new headphones, my old ones are lagging, and I don't have monitors.

AKG K518DJ, got them back from the repair today

The sound is good, they are really really bassy, so they're really not that clear, but that isn't much of an issue unless you're playing on a big rig and need to push them a lot. I took out the cushions from the ear pads and that helped.
They have a stupidly long cable (2,5m) which is how i broke them, i stepped on it while they were connected to the mixer and basically ripped the jack connector (which is very thin :/) apart. I have to say though, they survived the same thing a few times, bad luck really. If you're going to buy them i suggest you buy K518LE's (colored edition), they have a shorter cable.
You should be fine if you're careful with the cable, and not have it hanging around like my stupid ass, i'm gonna tie a bit from now on, so it's shorter

Overally the pros are:
- Cheap (i found them going from about 40€ on the web)
- Good sound and excellent sound isolation for the price
- The headphones themselves look pretty sturdy and well constructed
- The swivel mechanism, you can rotate them to basically every position imaginable

Cons:

- A little too bassy, sacrificing the quality
- The annoyingly long cable, which is two sided and non-detachable
- Weak looking jack
- They clamp a lot, although i don't mind that for DJing, it can get a bit irritating for listening sessions.

I'd say they're worth the price and perfectly sufficient for DJing at home and small venues

New setup: Arrangement/EQ/FX inside Maschine > 8 outs to mixer>Gain staging/Dynamics/EQ/Send FXs on mixer>record live dubs out of mixer onto DAT>Record dub, chop and process in DAW.

what do you gain from recording from the mixer onto DAT?
Or is it the only option?
One more thing, do you have different sounds from the maschine on different channels on the mixer?
Afaik the maschine has only one output and i cant figure out how you would go about connecting it to the 8 channels on the mixer. I am a complete noob when it comes to hardware

Recording to DAT: The main reason I'm recording to DAT is because I'm still deciding on the best way to record the live dubs back into my computer w/o eating too much CPU/RAM. No advantage other than that.

Mix/Maschine: I do have different sounds from Maschine routed to different channels on the mixer. The Maschine hardware actually has zero audio outs. However, the software will allow you to send the audio out to a maximum of 16 stereo pairs on your audio interface. Right now Maschine software doesn't allow mono output.

My interface has 8 mono outs/4 stereo pairs (MOTU 828 MK2). So, I hard pan sounds inside the Maschine software to trick it into giving mono outputs. I used to do the same thing on my Electribe ESX.

So, if you had an interface with 16 stereo pair/32 mono outputs and a mixer with 32 channels you could get a really rocking setup going with Maschine. But I find that 6-8 channels is plenty since I can EQ/filter/Bus things inside Maschine before it hits the mixer.

Typically my analog mixer channels look something like: CH1: Kick, CH2: Bass/Sub, CH3: Snares, CH4: Hi Freq Perc, CH5: Hi-Mid Freq Perc, CH6-8: Leads/Instruments.

Then basically I'm recording live and using the Maschine controller to launch one-shots, do mutes, control it's own FX and using the mixer to do mutes and control FX send amounts. Then also I tweak the delay and reverb pedals while recording. It's kinda my 21st century version of a Scratch Perry or King Tubby setup.

no, i was producing on them for a while and the tunes sounded horrible and i also put my subs way too low, it sounded great in the phones, but speakers didn't pick it up haha

My basement setup. As you can see, it's not wired up yet in the picture(s), but you'll get the idea.

I'll take nicer pictures if the setup is complete. atm I'm missing some pieces of the puzzle ( MPC 1000 / 2000XL for sequencing, couple of alesis 3630s, KP3 & some kind of VA synth... haven't decided which one yet)
