I went up to Ewood park a few years back, the area around the stadium is proper grim

The crowd is probably a bit masochistic.
The great thing about this guy is that he is not a comedian who's looking for big laughs over stupid stuff but the crowds still tend to treat him like that
havent seen the Political Correctness one magma, I'll check it. You're right about the other two though, the Context one barely made me laugh but I was sat there thinking this guy is fucking brilliant

You reckon some of the reason why crowds laugh so much is because they're seeing it live though?

Yeah actually, I never really liked Reginald D. Hunter that much, still not crazy for him tbh, but his live show had me in stitches.

Yes, it's conditioning like clapping/applauding is. Everything is magnified live.
Bit of a stretch but still.
But in his case, with the level of control he exudes over an audience via timing and that kind of measured absurdity, he puts them in a spot similar to a smitten school girl that can only deal by giggling all the time, so when the actual laugh comes it's almost celebrating escaping that control he has.
Also, the punchline in his stuff is often really provokingly simple or silly,
which makes waiting for it that more akward, putting him further in charge.
He talks a lot about conditioning audiences, as opposed to catering to them, which gives him a bit more freedom and it's less condescending than the usual american observational comedy tradition where the comedian has to focus on convincing the audience. He is a genious performer on a level like prince or jimi imo. Not least because he choses a lot of really quite stupid subject matter like crisps

A live audience is a double edged sword. If you're even mediocre they will clap and laugh, but if at any point you cross a line they will hate you and turn your whole set into a nightmare. The best know how to deal with it though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jMhoGUiIkk
