the bottom line is that we are paying for these people to live one way or another. bill maher said "if walmart won't pay their workers a living wage, then uncle sam has to." we can't just let ppl who actually work for a living and hold up their end of the social contract starve and be homeless. i'd rather it came from their paychecks than from our taxes.
not to mention, for all those concerned about the debt, increasing the minimum wage will lower the deficit because there will be less welfare. that's probably a good thing.
Wouldn't it be a dream if we had actual economic data from THIS economy generated by several studies from unbiased sources?

How, in this day and age do we not have empirical, accurate, nonbiased, nonpolitically motived data on this. We're still conjecting?

I propose that, when a post contains quotes,
any bigups should be fractionally allocated equally amongst all contributors
ie a post containing one quote has one half a bagpipe given to poster quoting (pq) and the other half to the quoted poster (qp)
and a post containing two quotes would have a third of a bigup each to pq, qp1 and qp2 and so on.
(currently on a stakeout without much to do)
