Every curious teenager or 6th former has read this sort of conspiracy stuff for as long as I can remember. Most people grow out of it. In the 19th Century millions saw prisms as evidence of God; now we can explain prisms, so people look for other things to make mystical. It's all very predictable human behaviour.
I'm sure some very outlandish things may be true about the universe... but I'm only going to say "yes, I believe" to people who can demonstrate proof.
Since that was kinda almost directly after my post, I hope that it wasn't in response to what I wrote. Because I did not refer to anyone as a nutter in my post. I just asked for proof and that they treat others as they expect to be treated, ie if they want others to respect their beliefs, whether it's aliens, reptilians, science or religion, then they should allow others that same degree of respect in their beliefs. Which in this particular case is "mainstream" science.pistonsbeneath wrote:jesus some people really do have a nerve to call others nutters...
such a huge assumption to make about someone...just because you have your eyes closed doesn't mean people awake are nutters...
If you guys really can't see any of this stuff all around us then you cannot be even slightly open minded so don't even try saying you are
What Magma said. A certain subset of people do not believe in the conventional view. That is absolutely fine by me. I have absolutely no problem with that. Until, that is, I feel that I am practically being preached to about the TRUTH and am being insistently told that I am blind. Yet when I try to reason with said people and explain why my view is such, it gets shouted down and I'm told I'm being accusatory and blind. Why am I not allowed to hold on to my beliefs in CONVENTIONAL science when you expect to be allowed to expouse on your views? I never even get derogatory, abusive or condescending when presenting my viewpoints. Unlike some of the more hardcore zealots about the HIDDEN TRUTH.magma wrote:What got me involved was the repeated idea that people who don't believe are either stupid or haven't studied the information. We have. We just didn't buy it. I'm totally happy for all you guys if you do believe it and it improves your life (I feel similar to how I do towards those that find happiness in Buddhism or Christianity), honestly it's absolutely your business and not mine.... but if you post arrogance like this in public, you're going to get replies:
This particular quote however may suggest that:The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum - even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there's free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate. "
