"Basically..."
"Literally..."
"Do you know what I mean?"
when people use "in terms of..." in an attempt to appear intelligent
and when people FINISH a sentence with the word "SO"

So, yeah? i'm telling this story, yeah? But like, I have to say yeah? every few seconds to make sure you're listening, yeah? Yeah?
Re: Get Involved! (Phrases that need to die)
I use basically quite a lot, if I explain something and the person i'm talking to and they don't seem to get it, which happens a lot with a couple of my friends, so I have to say basically and dumb it down to shitparkour_nico wrote:"Basically..."

Re: Get Involved! (Phrases that need to die)
Not sure if its in the same context but a lot of folksy people I've met from Ohio and Pennsylvania say that. It's undoubtedly always used as a transition from one mundane topic of discussion to another. Typical conversation at work: "blah blah blah, my kids hockey game, so, blah blah blah my wife's knee surgery, so, yak yak yak I need my transmission repaired. (after 15 minutes of this) so it's been great talking to ya, I'll be seein ya." me in my cube wishing I had brought my earbudsparkour_nico wrote: and when people FINISH a sentence with the word "SO"

another one that really grinds my gears
white people using the word "ghetto" to describe anything that's not up to their sanitized suburban standards.
