Yup, I've just been getting into this stuff and find it so addicting. I find that particular song a bit too fast, but anything less than 150 bpm is alright for me

Hmm I guess is those drums then. I prefer the spaced out kicks. While browsing beatport tho, I heard stuff in the 180's. too much for me!

More:
Funkiness, danciness. I don't have a problem with the more ambient side of things, in fact I love it, but people like swindle, flylo, disclosure, etc have got it right.
Experimentation. Even if I don't particularly like it, I might very well buy a record that's new and different over another dungeon sleeper-esque 12"
Artists, think like Shackleton. He does it right.
GRIME WAVE - PACK UP YOUR LITTLE DUBPLATES !!!
UK Bass 130 stuff from the likes of Addison groove - fucking sick beats that are so simple yet complex yet dance-y and RAW and POWERFUL
Hessle Audio.
Stuff that manages to be very dancefloor and still melodic and powerfully emotional, stuff that I could also listen to at home and get goosebumps. Here's looking at you, Bwana! (check Bwana out if you haven't heard, SO underrated). Also, a tip of the hat to Clubroot
Burial needs to do his old thing. Kindred was okayyy, very disappointed listening to the clips of his new EP. He's doing his
thing, and I respect that, but....come on maaaan. Burial LP will always be one of my favorite.
Less:
Generic dungeon, yeah it's cliché now.
In fact, generic music. Get out of your shell of plastic sounds and samples and try something new!

If there was one branch of sound that was like dungeon in that a lot of tunes sounded the same it'd be that sort of stuff

More: Fatness in producers' sub bass.
Less: Perfume/Aftershave adverts. (one was just on TV and over-rid whatever I was going to write)

Disagree
And yeah, maybe it's because I wasn't around for the 90s garage scene but it all sounds fun and bouncy to me

IMO, this argument doesn't stand in the information age. You could go and find out literally every garage release of the 90's/00's right now.
I get the feeling that the backpack wearing, 5 panel cap toting clueless hipsters at endless "bass" nights are the 10's equivalent of the suited up, sunglasses-at-night, champagne drinkers that made people turn away from the garage scene. Maybe some producers will turn away from the current scene if they can resist the lure of £££, and we might see new, INTERESTING scenes pop up, in the same way grime and dubstep did. Or maybe it's impossible now, because endless blogs and music sites will pick up on something the moment there's a night that more than 2 people turn up to.

There's a difference between simply having access to those releases at home and having actually been immersed in the scene and heard those releases out at regular nights. A lot of this garage throwback stuff sounds fresh to me because I'm A: 20 and B: Australian, so fucked if someone's gonna tell me there's something wrong with me enjoying it simply because it's a retread of something that's been done before. Being Australian (or simply not from the UK) also puts me in a different position to a lot of you blokes cos where you're all sick of Disclosure, Katy B and Mosca, I have to actually seek this shit out for myself rather than have it forced on me by radio and clubs. And trust me, if hearing too much DIsclosure is all you guys have to complain about then you'd fucking hate it down here.

Enjoy it all you want, I just don't think it's a valid point, that's all. I like a couple of disclosure tunes, I just don't like it because I was too young for the garage scene when it was around. It's not even a retread, most disclosure tunes sound nothing like UKG, the future garage dudes get a sound that's a lot closer.
