not necessarily, there was a huge gap between wow and sc2 announcements, innit. Also, it has been confirmed that there is a 3rd project apart from wow:wotlk and sc2 going on in Blizzard under the nick name 'project hydra' which will probably be the next game they announce. To be honest, I am quite terrified they manage to keep the games a secret for so long. Lets just hope they don't butcher it, was anyone a hardcore Diablo 2 player? You'll know what happened, I mean it was one of, not the biggest online RPG at the time and people played it cause of the gameplay then they lost a LOAD of their staff and released a god awful patch and ruined 90% of the community.
ALTHOUGH this might be false because Blizzard announced starcraft 2 LAST year, and they only announce new games once every 2 years, although all could change.
On a side note, I still think it will be an announcement of a diablo game but not exactly diablo 3. Maybe a diablo mmo (with diablo being an RPG and all that) is possible. Well, it is a possibility nevertheless. Blizzard is well aware of the fact that Diablo NEEDS a sequel and that if they let it die now they might never revive it succesfully enough. well, this is just speculations. we'll know more in 6 days.

Yeah, I agree Diablo DOES need something, I mean its nearly been 7 years since Lord Of Destruction hasn't it? I mean no RPG can last that long, since there is so much untouched ground and so many ways to innovate with the RPG format, unlike say.. RTS or FPS.

yep, LoD was released mid-2001. And indeed I'd say you're right in claiming that RPG is the most open game type. Aye I saw that during searching for a movie to watch.....Thing is if people are so hyped up to play it wouldn't they wait? I mean ive had the Portishead new album leak on my computer since it was launched but I ain't gunna listen to it till ive bought so I don't even have to open the case.

THE SUPER SMASH BROS BRAWL REVIEW:
This is mainly for Von and Dat, as I did promise many months ago during my daily posts regarding the game that I would share my opinions upon receipt. Seeing as I've taken so long with this and I have a fuckwad of free time on my hands I thought I would write this up as a full[ish] review. So now, as promised, I bring news of the games superbility (despite it's fictitious nature I like this word). Please bear in mind that I only got in about 5 days of playtime before leaving London so am basing my opinions on that time only.
First things first, SSBB is everything I expected it to be and more. Even though it's essentially a 'Melee v1.75' it still batters the shit out of any other game I've had the pleasure of owning since the summer of 2002...incidentally when SSB Melee came out (can you see the bias emerging here?).
The graphics have been given an extra sheen; characters have better textures;environments are more detailed and particle effects have been improved; but despite the enhancements the graphics are unlikely to stun anyone who's spent quality with a PS360. Which is a moot point really as if the graphics were any more vibrant my eyes would bleed, perhaps even melt. [Potential] FACT!!
Fan service in full effect
The gameplay has been tweaked in certain ways and characters from Melee have been given minor adjustments, some for the better, others for worse but like with any update of a gaming series (say, Winning Eleven/Pro Ev) this is just the way things are now so you'd better get used to it or just pissflap off. So, while Princess Zelda has been tweaked to perfection, Marth feels plain wrong.
The potential for skillful play in this game is next level. Because of the in game physics it's possible to plan the trajectory/bounce of the characters as they rebound off a wall and line urself up ready for a next attack, hard to describe but basically the free form nature of the fights mean you can develop a fighting style and combos entirely of your own and do things that aren't necessarily 'programmed' into the game like most fighters are (ie. button combos, chains, etc). Very few Smash players fight the in a similar style with the same character. Also the many throws, feints, dodges and counters belie the seemingly 'basic' interface (there are effectively only just two attack buttons which open up access to the characters repertoire of moves).
All about the dodge
The game has 35 characters and though a few 'clones' remain (characters with essentially the same move sets but different skins) they all handle very differently (a Captain Falcon player will unlikely have the same play style as Ganondorf and vice-versa). The new characters are all worthy additions to the roster; Lucas, Lucario, Olimar, Meta Knight, Zero Suit Samus ands Ike are particular percys of mine. Special mention has to go to Snake as he is better than i had imagined; his move sets aren't straightforward in the slightest so are doubly satisfying to use; the feeling of planting remote mines on the sly and luring people towards them before setting them off manually just can't be beaten.
The stages have also been massively improved; during my many years of playing Melee I only ever really used about 3 or 4 different stages (incidentally all 4 of those have been included in Brawl) but at least 80% of Brawl's stages are excellently designed. The music to the game is frackin un-bee-lee-va-bul! Over 300 tracks by the cream of the game composers crop, each making next level renditions of tunes from Nintendo's history including Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon and Fire Emblem to name but a few (plus the games recurring theme tune is composed by Nobuo Uematsu of Final Fantasy fame and is particularly noteworthy). Some of the orchestral renditions could make you weep they're so good. You unlock new tracks as you play and each stage has multiple tunes, the frequency of which can be adjusted to your liking, making the audio aspect of the game consistently fresh.
Of the items you use while in battles, the biggest addition would have to be the Final Smash balls, once opened they unleash a devastating attack specific to each player which will more often than not take an opponent out in one go. The catch is that they float around the stages in random directions and take 3 hits before they open, leading to mad dashes where players will abandon their attempts to attack one another and be in the one to get the final blow in and receive the bounty. As satisfying and purdy as Final Smash balls are I reckon when i get down to serious matches with mates these will get turned off as they do tend to turn matches around a bit too quickly and cheaply.

I'm yet to really test the depths of the online contingent of the game as I haven't yet hooked up with any friends yet. The random play option has a lot to be desired as there's no option to change the type of match (2 minute timed battles only) and there is often filthy amounts of lag. I've heard that once you get connected to mates (Friend Codes! YAY!) the play is super smooth so i'm looking forward to getting on it proper in the not too distant future. If there's one thing I've learnt from playing online so far it's that i reeeeally need to step up my game as some of the guys on there have some serious skills. I, like most, have only ever played the game amongst friends so have become the gaming equivalent of old, fat and lazy
The game also features x-amount of bonus content which I really can't be bothered to go into in any depth so I'll just say: replays, snapshots, trophies, stage editor, stickers, one player story mode, target mode, multi-man brawl, home-run contest, pre-set challenges/events, samples of games from NES/SNES/N64....anyway, moving on.
So, um, ye, a score. It would be bait just to give it 10/10 or 100% or something, mainly because i don't think anyone should be giving games hyperbolic scores like that (i'm lookin at you GTAIV reviewers!). So let's settle for something a bit more realistic. This game is better than good. It's fookin brilliant. You need to buy it. If you buy it and don't like it and come back whining to me that you were misled then it just means you were shit at it and couldn't understand its full depth. I give this game 8 'Fuck Yeah!'s out of 'Awesome!!'

LOL. Good review there mate. I f*cking loved the gamecube version (Ganondorf FTW). It looks like a brilliant game and as you've said, if it's anything like the previous one, it'll be AMAZING.

Cheers man. It's basically more of the same as i mentioned so you'd be hard pressed to be disappointed. Ganondorf has been tweaked nicely imo. He lumbers even more now unfortunately but his attacks have been given nice little 'after licks' which further separate him from Falcon, plus the animation for his 'Falcon Punch' is now SICK!!kins83 wrote:LOL. On the mastering tip, bare in mind I'll only have had a total of 2 months play time with it by the time you get your hands on it and, as mentioned, the online community has seriously put me in my place when it comes to bein unhealthily good at it anyway. There's always the freeloader if you're not up for waiting. The game only costs 30 quid with p&p.

I like online gaming sometimes, but I was on CoD4 the other night and walked into a team deathmatch with people just shouting abuse and arguing the whole time and the host disconnecting after 30 secs, some people take things way too seriously. Shame the PS3 is getting the same kind of idiots that plague XBL.
Although one had a squeaky voice mic that made me laugh a lot. Esp when he was winding up said idiots. "whos the fucking sqeauky voiced twat! I'm gonna fucking kill you!!" lol
