Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
I know theres an option to save ultrabeat and exs24 files with the song. i its an option when you save it.
Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
Why should they read the manual and look on YouTube if they're asking here? That's what this thread is for...vertx wrote:Read the manual for the first question, for the second look up some youtube videos but if your choosing the multi-out exs you can load as many samples as there are outs and set each sample to a specific key for editing in the piano roll.inDistinkt wrote:When I load a sample into EXS does it make another copy of the sample, since I have to save it as a new instrument? Just wondering cuz Im kinda low on space on the HD.
Plus, gonna have to come up with a better way of organizing my EXS instruments. Do you guys usually load more than one sample in each set?

I said read the manual cause I didn't know the answer to the first bit and then said for him to look on youtube cause it's easier to understand what someone it trying to tell you when you can see it instead of me writting it in text, that ok with you bro?

Maybe I misunderstood what he was asking.....

Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
I agree, this thread is for asking questions instead of looking info up, cuz usually when I post something here, I'll do my own research anyways, but it's always good to check back here, and see what other people had to say about it. But no faults either way. And I did find the answer. The manual is actually great. This forum along with studying and taking notes on Logics manual has done wonders in the past few months for me.
From the About EXS24 Sampler Instruments section:
" The actual audio files themselves are not contained within a sampler instrument. The sampler instrument only stores information about audio file names, parameter settings, and locations on the hard disk."

Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
Apologies for another aggy 4.30 am post... Seem to be doing that a lot on here lately lol
Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
I just bought Tone2 Bifilter and the installation say everything went fine and I can find the Bifilter component file in the plugin folder. The problem is that when I go to open it in Logic it's just not there. But when I open the AU manager, it tells me its good to go. I've tried restarting my computer, opening Logic in 64 Bit mode, and reinstalling the plugin. I don't know if it's Logic's fault or the plugin's fault. Has anybody else experienced this? Or does anyone know how or have any ideas on how to fix it?
Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
where have you been looking?
Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
Do you mean within Logic for the plugin? I've been looking in the drop down thing where you choose from all the non-Logic plugins.wizeguy wrote:where have you been looking?
Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
yea like there's the bit where you choose your instruments like massive or whatever and then there's the bit where you choose dynamics or reverb and shit, could be at the bottom of there.
Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
It isn't plus it should be because its not a virtual instrument. It's just a filter plugin.wizeguy wrote:yea like there's the bit where you choose your instruments like massive or whatever and then there's the bit where you choose dynamics or reverb and shit, could be at the bottom of there.
Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
i just downloaded the demo and installed it, couldn't find it anywhere either.... how strange
Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
Good, so its not just me. lol A little frustrating. I was gonna post this in their forum, but its not much of a forum. There's like 5 topics in the bifilter thread
I might try to email them.

Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
Hopefully. Google isn't doing much either. It seem like it's happened with other plugins but all their solutions just don't work for me.wizeguy wrote:haha, yea i been looking myself and their site dont seem to be very helpful...

Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
I'm actualy experiencing a similar problem with a soft synth that worked in 8 on my old lap top, but now doesn't show up in 9 on my new computer. Contacted the developer and they recommended trying two things, which might work for this other plug in:
I'm out of town for a bit, so I haven't tested this but plan to.Start Logic. Open the Logic AU Manager from the Logic menu:
Logic Pro-> Preferences -> Audio Units Manager
Does the plugin show up in the list of plugins? If it does, click "Reset and Rescan Selection".
If it does not now show up, this is a workaround for a bug in Snow Leopard:
1. Quit Logic
2. Move the plugin component file to the desktop
3. Move the file from the desktop back to the AU folder:
/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components/
4. Restart Logic
The plugin should now show up in the list of AU Instruments when clicking the I/O slot for an instrument track.
Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
I have a question for you Logic users
I've been thinking about getting Logic for awhile (for the instruments mainly) The only thing that's been keeping me from getting it is the price. But my sister can get it from her university's bookstore for $150 so I'm seriously considering it. Just a few things first though:
1. Are Logic's instruments and effects worth that price? (I don't have the suite version of Live so I didn't get any of it's instruments)
2. And have any of you switched from Live to Logic? How long did it take you to get your head around Logic's interface?
3. Are there any disadvantages of the academic version besides not getting a discounted upgrade to the next numbered version?
Thanks

Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
Well seeing as Logic is a full DAW it's well worth the money, but if you're buying it just for the instruments I'd say you're confused, it would probably work out cheaper to buy a few sample libraries; and a lot of these have higher quality and more realistic sounds and playing styles than the ones in Logic. I'd recommend you saving up for Kontakt tbh, but it's a lot more than you can get Logic for, but worth it all the same & it means you don't have to learn a whole new DAW.Sine69 wrote:I have a question for you Logic users![]()

Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
1. yes. sculpture is a killer plugin (string modeling synth for organic sounds), so is ultrabeat, all of them for that matter. the es2 is pretty crazy too, you can pretty much modulate anything with anything. ultrabeat has great samples and you can even synthesize your own drums. one of the fastest sc compressers out there, impulse reverb that can load any sample, a vocoder that can be used on any track, awesome sampler and sample editor, the amp modelers are great too. very high quality daw in my opinion, although there's a lot of things you can do it ableton that you can't do it logic. takes up a lot of space though, kind of. not sure how much compared to ableton.Sine69 wrote:I have a question for you Logic users![]()

2. ive never used ableton much, but it took me about 2 weeks to get the hang of it from watching youtube videos by sflogic ninja and the like. next step audio has some great ones as well. I love it man, its not super user friendly, but once you get the hang of it the workflow is really nice.
3. not that i know of. the next logic is probably gonna be logic x, which i believe is lion only... i dont plan on upgrading any time soon, expecially with the whole fiasco with the new final cut pro.
EDIT: komplete is pretty awesome though... for 150 bucks for logic though, i say go for it. you can always use ableton and logic depending on what you want to do with the song.
