SAFE FOR THE REVIEW MAN!!!
lol firstly i think that kick was one thing i was worried about. it sounds off cus for some reason i thought it would a good idea to layer the kick with another with one slightly reverbed. i didnt notice it sounded odd until i was compressing everything by which time i was far too lazy to change it and hoped nobody would notice.
i need to do one these longer-than-malas-dreadlocks-reviews cus its startin to make me look selfish :(
thanks again glad you like it!

Really, really feeling this, melody is awesome, bass and drums work well, whole vibe is wicked. i just want to listen to this on repeat, lie down and watch the visuals :P only thing i would change is to make the reverse swooshy sounds before the drop slightly shorter, maybe one bar (or even a half bar..?) instead of two, otherwise, nice one bruvva :)

First tune i've ever totally finished, made it dead quick as well, let me know what you think!

yo Kochari- i like the whole middle-easternish vibe. empire is a solid track but is missing a few essentials that could really help... i would say add some rises before beat changes, in the intro and the build up especially. good use of samples though... keep up the good work.

Max4Beats - i really dig your tune... should would be able to fill a floor! crazy ass melody you got on there man, i really like it. as for critique i think the breakdown could use some work as well as the ending. work on the structure a bit more on this and you've got yourself a tune, man.

heres my new tune... will comment for anyone that leaves feedback.

Hey man, really enjoyed this tune:

Good: Sample was a bit cheesy but I loved it (the laugh was nice when I heard it second time through), and the effects on it really fill up the spectrum nicely!
All these crazy rewindy sounds (how did you get that? its sick!), whooshs and minimal back ends of wobbles sound amazing and really give the sound a fullness in the higher freqs
Breakdown comes at the right time
Kick buildup works well to bring us back
Kick itself is nice and fat

Advice: The main mids/wobbly bit soud a little thin, I realise youve got a nice rolling subby sound in there but to really shake it would be nice to fatten that up a bit
Intro drums are very offtime , you were probably going for this, but I think it would be difficult for a dj to mix it in with that start
At the end you switch up the pace of the kicks which is good, but with a few extra snare hits each bar it would really get people going

Like I said really like this though, if you could hit me back with a review of my track back on page 163 it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback, Here I will return the favour!

Intro - 0.28 Really liking that beat, It reminds me of some of the production on Dizzee Rascals "Boy in da Corner" album! That Sample is really cool too! Perfect!
0.28 - 1.24 That Hook is sweet!
1.24 - 1.58 that little break is perfect, and its good to bring back that vocal sample!
1.58 - 2.34 Dropping that main hook again.... and its still interesting!
2.35 - end Ya overall a good track but it needs a massive sub bass, its crying for one! Something on the beat like cause the hook would sound perfect with a nice sub bass underneath it! There is a sub in there but it just doesn't have enough presence
Good track though! Production is perfect
I want to download it :P

Intro - 0. 55 Really like the intro its really airy and the bubbly kind of noises are sweet!
0.56 - 1.24 Sweet bassline, way better than I was expecting!
1.24 - 1.54 That Melody introduced is nice!
1.55 - 2.47 Cool, you could just chill out to this all day!
2.47 - 4.10 Dropping the bass again is perfect! I ireally Like it!
4.10 - End Really Cool outro...

Overall..... I normally don't like that airy style dubstep but This is a really good track! Well done

Sure...just give some back :)

Intro - 0.26 Intro isn't bad but it doesn't do the next riff justice? Not enough of a drop and I'd get rid of the Koncrete productions sample
0.28 - 1.36 Insane riff, Kind of drags on a bit, i'd try throwin in a few other things to freshen it up
1.36 2.34 Riff that comes in here is insane
2.45 - End Needs a bit more

Overall some really god ideas in the track but the percussion needs work, Rythm was repeated too much? It just didn't really grab me!
Needs something to keep the pace jumping, Its just a bit slow moving Really good potential! :)

wana give me some feedback!

P.S. It's split into about 3 crescendos so if you dont have much time and just want a flavour try for about 20-30secs at 00:30, 3:00, 5:30 - does sound better with the build up though!

Soundcloud
Serious backlog around here - this is what happens when Knell takes the wknd off :o we miss u...

SesG blue-black-taste

props
- cool title
- like the click (00:03 etc.) in the percussion - well-panned too
- lo-tech synths set the mood, and they sit suitably low in the mix
- 00:12 wobz got a good dark feel to them, distortion works well
- this breakdown @ 01:26 is really well-done. u introduce new rhythm elements, switch the chord pattern, and then bring in this juicy synth @1:44... and the synth creeps up, mutates into a bassline, grabs u by the balls and starts wobbling... all in a style so moody it's like you're trying to express something painful inside. really feel this second section. The distortion turns it inside-out and throws it down the K-hole.
- there's no snare? i started to write this under "advice" but fck it, bold move, creates tension and unease
- again, this could come under "advice" but fck it, there's no samples - and there doesn't have to be. It's refreshing that u focused on yer tune and didn't throw in random movie clips just cos everyone else does. Respect.
The tune reminds me of the better (darker) side of trance music back in the day...

advice
- we all guilty of running over the 4/5 min mark sometimes... u know what u got to do! take the knife to it mate. It'll hurt at first but u'll be pleased when u done it. Save it as a new version and be as brutal as u can, chopping four bars here and four bars there. By the time u''ve got down to 4mins-ish u won't want to hear the long version anymore. Up to you where u chop, but the first 01:26 is a suggestion, cos it gets a lot stronger after that point.
- i would say that the chord pattern gets a bit old, but i think that'll fix itself once u've given it a chop
- couldn't feel the sub on this?? it's sunday morning here so i aint gonna crank it up, but seems to me you're relying on your main 2 bass synths? If there is a sub under them, u can turn it up. If not, get busy! i need to feel my breakfast shaking inside me...
- erm, what i said about the trancey sound is a good thing, but if y'r lookin for advice from a "dubstep" p.o.v., i'd say do some more homework on the arrangement side of things - what are the innovators doing to "dubstep" music these days that makes it so different to what came before? How are they mixing consistency with surprise? Fast with slow? ~ and when u get an answer, let me know

overall:
- love the mood here, leaves a grim blue-black taste in my ears :e: - guess it's gonna be another cold dark day. Again, really like the work u put in on the second synth/bass, moving it up & down & round & round... Music for the head

Only bit that's bugging me is the end needs a bit more, but I'm not sure what to do there yet.

Soundcloud
Cycles & Phil - collab-1

props:
+ wow, really refreshing to hear someone who actually knows how to play the piano
+ 00:48 beautiful piano & strings breakdown
+ good work in Logic, very clean sound
+ oh, and i don't know why u were unhappy with the ending, it sounds sweet. only thing is, by looking @the waveform, u can see that it'd benefit from a bit of level-control, where it goes loud

advice:
- don't think advice from this forum would really work yet: get to work on the dubstep remix!

overall:
This is smooth and sweet, well-played and well-mixed. Hope your mate enjoyed the experience, and he's gonna spend the next three weeks Re-Wired and sleepless, laying down the foundations for the first album... beautiful music for a Sunday morning; thanks for bringing something original to the party.

Props:
+ Dr. Zitbag
+ Transylvania
+ cor blimey, someone else who knows how to play the piano... It's like Transylvania's Got Talent around here
+ sounds like the sub (00:43) sits just right in the mix. my monitors are kinda flat but to me that sounds spot-on. All the levels do so far, respect.
+ 00:55 dutty bass, u know how we do!
+ 02:19 the breakdown shows off how crisp the mix realy is, u well ahead of the game, compression EQing everythin sounds tight in my (very) amateur opinion

advice
Any advice from me here is purely subjective. I'm not a fan of the original, which was too happy-housey for my tastes. I think u capture the original's flavour really well tho, so if u wanna keep the flavour then pls ignore me...
- the hi-end synths (01:36, and 02:33): if u wanted to darken the mix, take these synths to the cleaners, put them in the hot wash at 66 degrees and then hang up them out to dry in the midday Arizona heat.... bake until black
- a phatter snare would please the DSF peeps
- 05:26 is long! But i do it all the time, so what can i say, it's your tune mate, maybe if u leave this one as it is, and then if yr plannin a darker mix, it'll naturally turn out shorter cos of the variety and pace that that approach would bring

overall:
more sweet sounds for a smooth sunday roast. Yer mixing's better than mine and the waveform shows it - good work fella

My Third Track I made, feedback would be awesome. thanks guys
dubsac - kitchen aid

props:
+ please explain "kitchen aid"!? did i spell it right? wicked title
+ u move fast, young man! what's this, three tracks in as many weeks? good workflow.
+ sht dubsac, i gotta pull this one up...
+ yeah right ok, pull up, first synth is great, twisted enough for me, and sounds like a minor key, kinda scary
+ drumz are on the money, seriously
+1st DROP IS LARGE. The cut to sub is sexy. The hi-end wobz sit just right with their nasty neighbours
+ Intelligent use of Big verb/ explosion @1:50 for the breakdown
+ 2nd DROP IS LARGE TOO. Feelin yer use of hihats, didn't notice them the first time, props
+ hahaha hows that for a surprise endin

advice
- not much. only want to say that for some reason it didn't please my ears to hear the synths come back again at 2mins. Dunno why cos they worked in the intro. I'd be interested to hear the same notes played on somethin completely different - hi-end but even more twisted, or even hi-end sine that was folowing a lo-end rumble? just thinkin aloud
- thinkin about the synths, see where u repeat the phrase @00:28, i know the tune's still young at this point, and the pace is great, but u could maybe stutter the synths here, shorten the notes and put them thru a delay or pingpong, then @00:56 when yer drumz hit, they could either go back to their original pattern, and sound bigger because they've been away for a while, or else u could give em another twist there, in time with the beat.... make sense?
- is it finished? i'm cracking up here at that endin, it's all good IMHO, but i think some peeps might need a bit more from u there

overall:
Your best piece yet, big drops, big drumz, big lo-end, you're a natural steppa. BigUp.

Now do your homework and tidy your room

props:
+ LOUD mix! you're gettin up to knell's levels here, i dunno how u people do it, honestly
+ Rhythm section comin on strong. Very original beat, really feelin it.
+ bubbles everywhere, feel like i'm swimmin with dolphins, love it
+ dutty lo sub, it's the giant squid lurking below the dolphins. U get the chance to play this out at all? reckon the mix would stand up to some proper megawatts. EDIT: i just gave it a blast, and reckon u could turn the sub up higher... but u better get a second opinion on that
+ i've lost it now, but there was one lickle moment where u switched the rhythm and the pitch of the rim/percussion, kept me guessing
+ 2:09 onwards - this last section is spot on. dolphins on acid...

advice:
- 2:38 the squid ate the dolphins too soon! i wanted them to peak on their acid... i mean, respect for keepin it under 3 mins. if u wanna keep it that length, can u take some bars out of the earlier sections, so that last section gets more of a run?
- 2:08, on second listen, i'm thinkin that if u do work on it, u could give us some warning before this section? not gonna use the word "drop" cos i respect that's not what you're going for, but a signal of some sorts would be nice...

overall:
that's sht hot. "being playful with the form" absolutely. Very original, very minimal, very likely to get played out if u could get it on vinyl. I've heard DJs play on that kind of tip for 30, 45mins straight, messing with new rhythms and repetitive subs - seriously think some1 might want this. Really impressed bruv, got any more?

peace, out :t:

Yo,

Max, thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you enjoyed the track.

Seeing as you were so honest and analytical its only fair I return the favor...

0.00 - 0.30 - Filter sweep and gateing the trance stabs work fine as a build up to the drop.
0.30 - Whoa. Nice, well rounded bassline, bringing everything in has the right effect.
2.23 - Fully feel this sound. What synth did you build it on?
2.41 - You could change the notation/rhythm of the bass for a little variance.

In all, good arrangement, drum programming and mixing... Sounds cool.
