Exactly, it would just be a bass album lost in the abyss.
It's good but not worth all the dick riding in the world.
Disagree - think the hype is justified/ proportional. Each to their own though. Definitely don't think it is just hyped because its Mala though.
And sorry to be a dick electric head/ yoowan but if you haven't been to system yet (heard not on youtube) you effectively haven't heard it yet

This. Haven't listened to Calle F yet

This is post your unpopular opinions, is it not? No need to correct me, I stand by what I said.

I reaally like the Mala version though, the percussion on that gives it such a nice groove when it switches up halfway through the track
This is actually the first time I'm hearing the original though, if I had heard this before hearing Mala's version I might have been more agreeable on this

yeah i really like what he did with it and the bassline is but... idk. i think it sort of takes something away from the soul of the original. ive lived with that one for years before hearing mala's tho so it's all switched up

No worries, I take no offense to you stating your opinion.
And yes, you may well be right.
But then I feel it is pretentious because it only sounds good on a big fuck-off system.
Why???
How many people listen to music on headphones or home systems??
Why would Mala release a tune that can be played on any system but should only be played on a big one??
With that fact in mind I don't think Cuba electronica is that great.
But I do enjoy it.
I prefer something more emotional like education.
Big system or not, I think it's amazing.

Because that's what he wants to do? I don't think it's any more than that. Not agreeing or disagreeing with you though. It's just the same as "headphone music" where you get a lot of left-right channel stuff that wouldn't sound as good coming from a speaker in front of you.
Not really that fussed about this cuban Mala stuff I've heard so far.

I was more getting listening to it 'not on youtube' rather definitely needing a big system: ie good headphones or home hifi
I agree with you on all of those points though!

Sure Garethom, it is his personal preference.
I have no issue with his choice or the track, other than feeling it is over hyped because it is Mala.
If I had mentioned a Manu Chao album in here, would it get as hyped??
I am just creating conversation here.
I don't feel overly hectic about any of this.

Manu Chao isn't very good though if I'm honest.

To be fair that was pretty much the main concept behind dubstep though in the first place wasnt it, just to meditate on some insanely heavy bassweight. Mala grew up with music from the whole soundsystem culture of reggae and jungle so it was probably just a logical choice for him to try and make music that's only given full justice on a proper full system
I think Calle F would sound amazing on a system, cannot wait to hear it somewhere
Cuba Electronica is much better on a system than it is on YouTube but I have to say it doesnt get to the levels of tunes like Education; now that is a Heavy Heavy tune, made me go when I heard it on a system, absolute earthquake dread vibes

Label putting out Digital and Vinyl and then doing vinyl only release is stupid.
