And yeh, WoW was/possibly still is the best MMORPG ever. Dunno about the post-WOTLK though, stopped there.
cataclysm at least was pretty fail imo, got bored from sitting in a main city waiting for dungeon queues to pop, and raiding isn't much fun when everyone knows the whole fight from the public test server and they were getting nerfed pretty quickly.
Didn't get that deep into PVP tho but apparently wasn't better.

I found Panda xpack to be ok actually, they do some sick things with the engine now. I played Vanilla till Burning came out and then quit, came back for WotlK, quit, came back mid cata, quit, came back mid panda haha

They're not games, they're practice for TEOTWAWKI
except it wouldn't be like that. I just don't get em, there is no progression, no skill. It's just run around and do shit till someone comes and kills you, then start again.
it might be more fun to play than to hear about but im not convinced yet
It (DayZ - I can't speak on Rust, etc) really is more fun to play than hear about. I could say "I got jumped by a 4-man squad, killed two, got shot, escaped alive" and you wouldn't be interested, but to experience it 1st hand is some next-level shit.
edit: and to say there's no skill involved is just naive. DayZ is built on a military simulator - if you're a skilled soldier IRL then you've got the upper hand, no doubt.

How come you don't rate COH2? Me and most of the crew I play with picked it up for £10 in a Steam sale and I think it's a pretty good game. I couldn't play it for a while cos it doesn't support Win XP, but when I did try it I was pleasantly surprised, I expected it to be a lot worse from what people had said. The one major problem with it is the multiplayer - I'm really picky about maps and it doesn't let you choose what map you want to play.
Recently I've mostly been playing:
Company of Heroes (would play 2 but the multiplayer's fucked so we just play the original)
DayZero (best DayZ experience til standalone fixes combat logging and adds some form of item storage)
Arma II (making a mod of my own - basically Drugwars/Dopewars in the Arma engine)
GTA Online (good for trolling kids and the occasional fuck-about. Shame it's not more in-depth. Functionally, SA-MP is actually superior)

It doesn't feel like they added enough to CoH 2. It feels like an expansion pack. I have a ton of hours logged on the original multiplayer so it would take a bit more to bring me back. I guess my high expectations are a bit unwarranted though. CoH 1 is a tough act to follow.
I was hoping for a new engine, different time period (modern, vietnam?). Maybe a new unit type (choppers, boats?). Expanding the control point system/cover system (the ability to change resource types is a step back imo). The whole blizzard thing is such a gimmick.

I used to play San Andreas multiplayer (Multi Theft Auto) some months back before I got GTAV, and there were so many Mexicans and Spanish speakers everywhere in the good pinged servers. They were inescapable, but the racing and mini-games were unforgettable for me, despite poor hitboxes and hit registration.

Fair play. Now you mention it, Vietnam would actually be a really interesting setting for COH. Would like to see that. And yeah the blizzards are a pointless addition.
One thing COH2 definitely improved on is the AI though. I've had the original COH since it first released and have never played the singleplayer campaign (doesn't interest me) and the AI was never good enough to bother with skirmish, so it's always been a 100% multiplayer game for me really. The AI in COH2 is hard enough to enjoy a skirmish by yourself though.
I rate some things in COH2 a lot over the original though...like one well-timed grenade or molotov can actually wipe out a whole squad. People die easier. On COH it seems like everything can take a stupid amount of damage sometimes.

Anyone ever played Fez? Very uplifting game with an amazing sountrack. Also antichamber is good if your into the deeper trippy stuff. Its like if you were trapped inside that crazy stairs painting and you figured it would be a good time to drop some acid

Just got guild wars 2, starting as a guardian, it's arguably the best game I've ever played (!) and I am just blown away by the amount of stuff to do and how alive the world is with enemies, NPCs and most importantly other players.
Anyone here playing?
