Studio is such a grand word for "Laptop in a corner with some speakers and the odd keyboard" but I guess its not got the same ring to it

I don't see the problem with calling it a studio - just your place you make music - even if it is a laptop+table+chair.... studio.

Usually just refer to it as my "set up" in conversation so people dont think i have a moonbase

It was more like what johnlenham said up there. That's a studio to me, otherwise you're just making music in your bedroom (which is where the best tunes come from imo)

I have never personally linked the term 'studio' as a term for a professional space for music production. Just another word for the place you make music.

Although its traditionally short for 'recording studio' which a bedroom set up isn't.
