Lovely melodic intro man, percussion is big and the drop sample-incidental sequence works well... Great patch selection afterwords, Im not usually big on the midrangish wobbles but at least youve got some unique synthwork, its got alot of energy... the slower modulating patch feels like it needs some more intense variation though, towards the end of the verses it lags a bit, but thats just me maybe :? ...

Solid mixdown too btw, drop the intro by 3db or so though, pull a rusko, haha... up the bigness factor when the bass drops :wink:
Thanks for the feedback man, totally forgot about dropping the volume on the intro before the drop, I've watched the Rusko masterclass enough times that I should of remembered. :D :lol:

Feedback Line:

@Lordbid - What am I sounds great, mixdown is solid, the midrange wobble is big and beefy finally I'm liking what your doing with the synths at the start and vocal sample, great melody to it.

@Lordbid - Synth is wicked on this one, sounds empty on its own at the start but when the drums come in it ties together nicely, also liking the 2steppy hi hats and incidentals. Again the bass is sick and works well with the synth and drums, solid mixdown btw.

@Basic A - Very dark track, liking it, the horror/creepy like synth(s) at the start blends in well when the bass comes in, mixdown is great/solid. The name seems to fit the song very well, like your about to build up to something big or something is bubbling inside of you waiting to come out, maybe on the next track eh? :e:

Some of you might like this 2-track EP of more garagey stuff. It's not dark in any way.

@zoentrooper - thanks for the feedback man, I listened to your song pure-dirt, great drop btw, love the really fast wobble, its so floppy, in a good way! my only suggestion is maybe try to vary up your hihats a little cus they got a little boring after a while playing the same rythm good mixdown tho although I personally think the snare could have more presence in the mix.

Curious to know what people think....

@Lordbid--What-am-i, some nice sounds, but a little too repetitive. Try some form of chord progression. Even though each bar has it's own characteristics, without any movement in the chord progression I feel like I'm at the same place i started at the end of the track. The second drop seems to come out of nowhere as well, although its a nice change from the 4 note stanza, try to put some emphasis on the last couple of measures before it, just to draw some dimension. I would also put more focus on the drum pattern, and try to make each measure unique yet not stand out. Looping the drums has the worst effect IMO, and if each measure is the same then it becomes the most noticed part of the track. This is all my opinion of course, and you don't have to take any of it to heart. TBO I don't agree with half of the people on here cause they think in DJ terms/dance-ability or how stoned you are, other than musicality.

@Bodega--Outdoor-life, May Have liked this song as my windows 95 intro tutorial, or in the movie, "Weekend at Bernies." The surf guitar is this only tracks saving grace. Keep trying, but listen to music from this century, not the 1980's.

@Bodega--Crosstrainers, Like this track a lot more but, it's still pretty repetitive despite the emphasis of the synth at 1:41. Switch up the drum pattern and try to have some real movement.

@Crosby--fluctuation, dope track, I would try to incorporate that vocal sample throughout your main section at different parts, not just the breakdowns. I would also mix up the drums a bit and replace a few wobble parts with samples, just really quickly. It just seems like your main sections last too long on this one.

@Arbatel-- Nice Tune, like your drums. Your bass line could be more unique, and the arp could switch up in a few instances, I could feel where they would, but it just didn't happen.

Just so everyone knows this is my opinion. None of it may matter, some of you might agree, some of you will think I'm an asshole. The forum rules dictate that I give other people feedback in order to receive it, so that's is what I'm doing. I personally don't think I'm full of shit when I give others suggestions on their songs. You might, but that's your problem. I like it when someone rips my songs, because it gives me the feedback I need to make it better.

Meanwhile back at the ranch,

So here's a new track inspired by mechwarrior 4's song hunter, as well as a vocal sample from a 1950's movie called Robot Monsters. It might not fit in the box of dubstep, but it will fit in the box of originality. It's sort of a Rock/Tech/Break/Dubstep tune, and I know it's dense, but that's the point. The intro is long as well, so if you have ADD then I would suggest skipping to the first block.
And since this is the last day of the month, I will be re posting this track on Thursday, or whenever the new monthly deal comes out.

So i actually got round to finishing a track for the first time this year.

I guess its a bit cookie cutter what with the generic snare on the third drum beat - im just stoked I got somthing finished. I was learning to create that twisted reece sound you hear - i just wanted to get it out there and finished for peace of mind. Im stoked!

I like the track, but did it really have to be 6:40? I feel like the the song would be a lot more intriguing if you shortened it a little or maybe added a couple good cymbal samples.

@Siderealdb
That track is fucking amazing man, great to hear stuff being pushed in that direction we need more of it, you've really got your own sound going on aswell. Make more like it, im a fan dude!

@Project_B
I know you said about the standard kick on 1, snare on 3 but it works man, really emphasis on the actual beat as opposed to the bass, which is there more to provide some grit and keep it moving but its mainly the beat that carries it along. I'd throw some more vocal snippets in if i were you, maybe some actual sung parts leading up to drops/variants just to define different parts. Nice atmospherics going on aswell!

@CollisionCourse
Wicked vibes with the vocals once it gets going but i'd tame that intro with some percussion and maybe a filter on the synth so it slides in and out of the mix and doesn't get too intense. If i got played in a club i think it would be mega savage, which is cool but more when the beats kicking aswell. I'd drop some extra percussion or some minimal style bleeps/clicks over the top aswell for an extra push second time round.

Heres my tune:

320:
http://www.mediafire.com/?yjdaxj1mwnt

I don't really do much dubstep anymore, but this one seemed to benefit well from a shuffly 140 beat so i went with it. All this recent weather must have put me in a happy sunny acid house mood...
I've only mixed it on my headphones and soundcard so any pointers would go down a treat. Cheers peeps x

@Basic A - Wow, what a track. I love it. I could see this being in a move like ed gein or something. I like it a lot. The only thing, maybe a little pronounced triplet of a hi hat at the end of every 8th measure? it would make the track gallop a little more. Otherwise, dude, heavy shit.

Word, cheers for the feedback. I mean, this track was a total learning experience, ive never really played with reeces before - I was never trying to do anything new just to figure how its done, combined with the fact i NEVER finish anything i was jsut stoked to finish it. Theres so much I have in my mind I could do to it but like, I need peace of mind man just knowing its *done* - hopefully one day ill pick up the track again and your feedback and work it into somthing differnt, I always appreciate the feedback tho!

As for the length, I always never know what to do, as a DJ I really like long, flowing mixes so I try to think of my tracks from that sort of view, perhaps a shorter track would have more impact tho, its defiantly somthing to think about. Appreciate it.

@Project_B Yeah man definatly, as i said i like the fact its the beat and percussion that carries it as opposed to just the bass, which is the case so much with alot of more recent stuff, its a good sound man keep at it! And still love reeses, drop some hoovers aswell i love their retro vibes even more
