they don't know shit about dubstep but they like to pretend they do so all the gullabull teens across the UK can still go "yeaaah!!! I love dubstep it's cool !!!" who have no clear expereience with electronic dance music because it wasn't fashionable then. fuck radio1 again, have they only just discovered dubstep or something? it's been around since like, a decade now and dubstep was in its prime around the mid-late 00s.

Alright then, Benji B and Gilles Peterson have repped new forms of electronic music for tiime. Not to mention the likes of John Peel and Mary Anne Hobbs who in fact pushed the genre forward a great deal and allowed it to flourish.

Yeah some of the DJs are maybe doing a little bandwagon jumping but i don't think that radio 1, when you look at it and its history as a whole, is jumping on a bandwagon.

true, a lot of radio 1 DJs and listeners are new to the sound but that doesn't mean that a good show is bad because it's on what's admittedly a pretty terrible radio station for most of the day

i'm not sure but i'm gonna risk saying it, think bbc was alreaady pushing dubstep before this forum was online...john peel played rephlex grime compilations for example..

Yeah that is true.

I wish the bbc would use there resources differently, they spend to much on a lot of crap that can be found eles were. But for the small amount of good media they provide me, I thank them.

build knowledge about the history of this sound before you get on some high horse. dream teem on Radio 1 circa 2001-2003 were playing UKG primarily, but they would also throw in the first fragments of this sound, before it was even called dubstep into their shows. this is that time when UKG was getting away from cheesy vocals, and going darker. john peel, not only was the head of Radio 1 back in the late sixties, but was the first to play distance, plastician and digital mystikz on national FM radio back in 2003-2004. radio 1 was created because pirate radio was gaining too much popularity.
