Re: What game are you playing?
Started Skyrim last night. Good fun. Took a while to get into not having VATS targetting, but got the hang of blocking/striking now. Just been to some Barrow and learnt a shout off a wall. Not sure what it does yet.

Ahhh shit, half the fun of Skyrim is the amazing mods!
Either way if this is your first time playing, be prepared to waste plenty of time, cos you won't be able to get off it

Yeah, I'm actually quite worried given how much time I've poured into Fallout 3 and NV beforeTrainrek wrote:Ahhh shit, half the fun of Skyrim is the amazing mods!

Godamn, this is a rabbit hole I'm going to regret tumbling down. Got my ass handed to me by some Chaurus last night at level 5.

All that melts away when the lights are down and the bass is up.
Re: What game are you playing?
Basic character build for my start, Nord with an emphasis on one handed combat. Done the first couple of story missions (getting the first bit of stone) and just been told to go fight a dragon by some tower, but not doing that yet. Joined the Companions to get a bed/place to store my stuff, on their first mission in Shimmermist Caves which is where I've been caught by those chaurus.Riddles wrote:yeah they're pretty serious at low level. what kinda character you going for?wub wrote:Godamn, this is a rabbit hole I'm going to regret tumbling down. Re: What game are you playing?
Been playing trials fusion for the last week and i have to say it's great fun. never played any other trails games tho, so i can't compare. Trials, killzone shadow fall, outlast, resogun and few other free games are keeping me company untill watchdogs later this month.signals wrote:ive been playing trails evolution a bunch wiith muliplayer. i herd fusion sucks

Re: What game are you playing?
Prop Hunt and Trouble in Terrorist Town. both gmod + CS:S mods. good fun if 3 or more are playing
Re: What game are you playing?
Just started Max Payne 3, it's so fucking trippy/jerky/stop/start. Yeah shooting people in the face in slow-motion is good but maybe mix it up a bit. The original had a story at least, beyond 'just shoot all the brown people.'
Re: What game are you playing?
it's just not the same game man, never got a chance to play 2 but the first is still probably top 3/5 games for me, so dark and ominous, sick story and setting
3rd one is entirely just killing as many as possible and it gets exhaustingly boring

Re: What game are you playing?
I'm not totally down on it. I played it earlier for like 4 hours and got a little notification saying I'd shot nearly 50 people in the dick, and killed 250 with my uzi. That seems to sum it up so far.RKM wrote:it's just not the same game man, never got a chance to play 2 but the first is still probably top 3/5 games for me, so dark and ominous, sick story and setting

It's reminding me horribly of Uncharted. I don't really understand this whole "cinematic gaming" thing, where you watch a CGI movie and occasionally press buttons to allow the movie to continue.

Re: What game are you playing?
Cinematics =/= quick time events.
If used correctly cinematics can be a great way to communicate to the player exactly what the director has in mind. Especially if it can be easily missed or cause confusion later in the game.
They're on their way out though. I feel that the oculus rift and other vr devices are going to be the primary platform for story driven games in the near future. Camera locked / 3rd person cut scenes don't work well in vr I imagine.
