Really digging it so far, good start. The wobble on the bass is good, nice variety there. I would make the bass chunkier and deeper though, because it's not really hitting my sub the way it should. You should start by EQ'ing the bass a bit higher, and if that doesn't work then export a new version of the bass with no effects on it but the wobble, load it into a new mixer track, and cut out everything but the sub (make sure it's not interefering with your kicks), then cut out the sub from the original wobble, and then play both at the same time. That way you'll get the dirt on the top end and but the sub will still pump like a motherfucker.
The vocal loop is good, it works with the song. I would whack some more reverb on there, but that's about all I can think of. If you're having trouble isolating those annoying clicks on the high shelf you have a few options:
- First try just EQ'ing the vocals, see if you can get rid of the click that way
- Also make sure that you put the EQ after any effects, because if you have reverb or something on there after the EQ then it could make the sound bleed all over the place.
- You could try using a compressor on a "vocals" or "declick" setting
- Then you can try loading it up into an audio editor like Audacity or Edison (the one that's built into FL Studio), and use the declick tool or just manually delete the clicks from the waveform
- If nothing works then you can try going at it with a hatchet in EQUO and just cutting out any frequencies that click, even if it alters the vocals, and then use EQ and reverb to bulk the vocals back out. This will change the style of vocals though, so be use it only as a last resort.
Only other thing I would say is that the drums are very weedy, and while this generally works with the track, I would put a lot more reverb on the snare, a little bit on the kick, and just generally make the drums beefier.
But all criticism aside, it's a good start and a promising track. Now go finish it!
