letting your missis go and choose your flat with you having no say sounds a bad starting point. you'll be having friday nights in painting her toenails while watching sex in the city in no time
I did have a say in it, we both agreed it looked all right. I would go and look at it with her but I work in London all week and she works Saturdays so there's never really time to go together. I'm confident it'll work, I guess that's all that really matters.

Best of luck to you, fella. Though living away from home for the first time and moving in with the missus...could be something wonderful.
Could be a fucking 'mare.
Do not miss London prices at all. 600€ p/m here gets us a two bed/two bath/two storey apartment with an office downstairs for studio purposes. Bills includedLye Form wrote:minimum around london (east really) is £1100.
paying 700 now for a house share.

Thinking of Australia as there is a shortage of people who do my job (SEO) there. Asked last week if i wanted a skype interview for a position in melbourne, with 'beachfront 2 bed villa' and $120,000 aud salary + 'living expenses'wub wrote:Do not miss London prices at all. 600€ p/m here gets us a two bed/two bath/two storey apartment with an office downstairs for studio purposes. Really hard to make that kind of change though.

Melbourne is the nuts man if you get the chance I'd jump at it.
Re: things that have made you happy today
If you've got the chance, go for it.
Living in London was fucking awesome, don't get me wrong. But a pay bump, living costs that have halved, not to mention swapping commuting to Slough to working in Madrid...no brainer.

I think the plan is once the missus finishes her MA is to go traveling for a bit, head to Aus from there to test the waters (stay if we like it)
the music scene here + friends and family are hard to move away from though.

That rent price is like moaning that you can't buy a house in Chelsea with a garden for less than £1m.Lye Form wrote:Looked at a small 1 bed place in stratford that was 1400 a month and got told it was one of the cheapest flats around.scspkr99 wrote:Yeah not even Dublin's that expensive and I moved out of Dublin because it was nuts. London wages would make up for it - but as you get taxed 40% everything over 32k now its all a bit much.
I've never paid more than £750pm rent for a 1 bed flat in London (and that's split between two) and none of the flats or areas have been shitholes. Paid £1200 a month for a 2 bed place in Kilburn (50metres from zone 2 tube) that had 4 of us living in it a year ago- £300pm each, currently paying £350pm in a shared place....if money is an issue then London rent neadnt be expensive. (and money shouldn't be an issue if you're earning over £32k)
Re: things that have made you happy today
Where do you find these deals? looking at kilburn on gumtree studios are listed at like 1400 a month (http://www.gumtree.com/p/flats-houses/s ... 3/79268921)Mr Hyde wrote: I've never paid more than £750pm rent for a 1 bed flat in London (and that's split between two) and (none of the flats or areas have been shitholes. I just now did a quick search and there seem to be a lot of kilburn studios for about £750pmLye Form wrote:Where do you find these deals? looking at kilburn on gumtree studios are listed at like 1400 a month (http://www.gumtree.com/p/flats-houses/s ... 3/79268921)Mr Hyde wrote: I've never paid more than £750pm rent for a 1 bed flat in London (and that's split between two) and (none of the flats or areas have been shitholes. Kilburn isn't even especially cheap, head southeast or a bit further out in any direction and its cheaper- it's what most Londoners do
100's for less than £700pm: http://www.gumtree.com/search?property_ ... cope=title
