For what it's worth: i don't like f.e that bangs & works cd on planet mu, it's just too much hi hats all over the place.

Addison groove is not even really juke for me, or it's really good in comparison with that cd. Check out rashad @ boilerroom, i thought it would be too much but that set is really good party material, what i just can't imagine dancing on with other 'juke or footwork' stuff

Wow.

First track in this mix (played up until 2:28) is one of my new favorite footwork tracks.
https://davequam.wordpress.com/2010/11/ ... an-its-on/ Big thanks to Traxman and Dave Quam for their work!

Got to give credit to Dave Quam. He's been supporting this sound for a while and his blog has some amazing music from all over the place: http://davequam.wordpress.com/

Also for a bit of recent history on this stuff you should check RP Boo's mixtape, Dude off 59th Street:

hmm, figured i'd stop by this thread b/c i caught a juke set for the first time recently.... i'm definitely feeling Addison Groove tunes and I love 808s in all kinds of contexts
but this set i caught was BAD. ugly.. maybe it was the particular dj, maybe i really don't get it.. but all he was doing, literally, was looping some ugly sounding rap vocal sample (maybe 2, 3 words which seemed arbitrarily selected), looping it round and round, and then engaging an 808 loop over the top which held zero groove. tempos were all over the place. Once in a while, for about 5 seconds, the mishmosh of noise created something resembling a nice-sounding 808 beat, and then would quickly drift out of sync again. The point is that the DJ honestly didn't seem to notice or give a shit when something really bad happened.. He just let it keep bleeding out the speakers. A couple heads were dancing, having fun, but from what i could tell most of us were put off. 808 kicks with massive sustain, yet played in very quick succession, til it was barely identifiable as anything other than a constant bass wave.

My ears were downright offended. *shrug*
