My opninion.. You're trying to hard with the cowbell, your synth stabs is way to clean, your kick isn't pushing thru -> there's no solid groove! The spacey kind of sounds aren't used that good imo!

Sorry for the harsh feedback... But you will learn from that :)
I like the style you are trying to go for and it'll probably come if you keep it up!

Improvements... Give your drums a little more punch and character, try out some kind of saturators, try a filter enveloppe on your synth!
And arrangement wise... Try to keep the groove a little bit more flowing, you try a little bit to much to do like this producer techniques... But that kills your flow!

Hope you don't hate me after this post, I hope it'll help you to develop your tunes!

^^^^^^ not a big fan of the snare, Soul. Just sounds out of place. Nice percuss.
Otherwise, sounding good.

Feel like you could add a melody or strong lead overtop with what you have.

Soul of Seun I actually enjoyed your track, the snare did seem a bit alien but judging by ur pic I guess u was going for that vibe ;-) Could someone give us some feedback on my track? I already posted a track on this thread b4 but didn't get any :u: (peanuts) so I was hoping I could this time. Please tell me what you think :n:

@BigFrizz To be honest the tune is just boring. That white noise coming in with the snare is really bland and could use more reverb and more impact in general. There is almost no groove to the song, it walks along at a rather stagnant and predictable pace. The melody could use some sprucing up too, as in a higher element maybe like a chime or something that plucks on top. Keep at it.

@Paradigim: Not really my kind of music but I'd say the track has a decent amount of 'energy' to it. I would say maybe work on the EQing and panning in the intro, some of the elements don't seem quite as defined as they could be. But maybe that's cause it's just a low bitrate preview. Also i would do something a bit different with the vocal in the 2nd build up, just a bit of variation would be nice.

I make house and garage and I usually post for feedback on future garage forum but that place is dead at the moment.
Few things from me:
Soundcloud
Personally, the pitched vocal and sampled pads are getting kind of annoying and I wish i'd done something a bit different with them. What do you guys think?

Soundcloud
sorry it's only a clip, just let me know if you're feeling it from this.

Thanks!

Yo, looking for a bit of help with this one.

I was really happy with the drums on this one but I've struggled to come up with convincing other parts. I have a bit of an organ problem and I'm trying to stay away from my usual organ + piano combo (check other tracks on my page to see what I mean).

Basically, I feel like this is missing something. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Did a bit more work and decided I like it. Finished product below.

Here's the latest effort from myself:

Soundcloud

skins345669,

That is smooooth. Really feeling the after party vibes on this. I'd say I'd like to hear the arpeggiated synth that comes in towards the last few bars a bit more prominent in the mix. Push it up in the mix a bit, maybe add a touch of reverb so it sits in its own place. Or compress to fuck and punch it. It's a really strong synth line and the sound design is gorgeous - show it off man! In terms of crit - I'd say the percussion pattern gets a bit stale by the 2nd drop - it's a really good break, but by the 2nd drop you already know how its going to go. Would be nice to sequence something different here - or even just pull out almost ALL of the pattern. Kick and a high hat only. build it back up. Something to just throw you off guard a bit. In fact that's exactly what I would do. Overall really nice tho man. Got your sounds dialled.

Wicked, thanks for very helpful feedback!

I've now replaced the other file with the updated version, decided to go for the rebuild (because I'm feeling too lazy to redo the drums).

@Capture PT

I like the vibe on that track, got a bit of an MLIU feel about it, I think a bit more movement in the chord progression would really set it off! Mix-wise I think if you're going to have big, bold hats like that, you could afford to take the kick up a bit to match them. Good work though!
