I've always thought this.Bassf4ce wrote:Am I the only one who thinks there isn't that much of a difference between brostep and dubstep?
I love both, just two different styles for very different environments. I played a set at a local venue on friday, and I was opening for another DJ who plays sort of dirty dutch/trap/prog house, that whole know (bleh).
At this venue most nights it's the usual currently popular genres of electronic music. My set was an hour and a half, and for the first 45 minutes I played out straight dungeon/deep and just older stuff altogether (kromestar, j:kenzo, coki, joker, etc.) and people were loving it, why? because there is bass, and the same heads who like this modern dubstep can totally appreciate the older stuff as long as it's not on their damn ipod headphones. I transitioned into deep house, then to electro house and then finally the last 20ish minutes I played more modern and midrange dubstep. It all worked out just fine. IMO the two styles are coming together, probably due to skream and bengas presence on the scene still.
And anyone who says modern dubstep has no bass, is just still butthurt over where the genre went and needs to get their head out of their ass (No, I don't count idiotic youtube remixes dubstep in any way, shape or form). Both styles are great, and more and more "bro" producers seem to be putting out deep-ish/all sub bass tunes on their EPs, usually just one, but it's almost like a nod of respect. I like it.

you know what, I'm not even feeling a lot of those Sleeper bits, there really isn't much of a difference between a lot of them. checked your sig tune, big one; would love to hear a producer of your vibe do something different!Hircine wrote:Some producers aremaking 140 4x4 dungeon tunes. Thanks man, glad you liked the tune. District drops some 170 bpm neuro-ish clips in his FB page. Darj has some 170~175 bpm dark ambient bits. NDread's garage tunes are huge.JizzMan wrote:you know what, I'm not even feeling a lot of those Sleeper bits, there really isn't much of a difference between a lot of them. checked your sig tune, big one; would love to hear a producer of your vibe do something different!Hircine wrote:Some producers aremaking 140 4x4 dungeon tunes. I've a few reggae and dancehall refixes in the "almost finished tunes" folder. I'm giving away a tune for free along with a mix for a blog this week. Don't let me forget and the next freebie will be a dub / rootsy one.
