AAARGH, I have been doing this for the last couple of hours but I think I finally managed to get sound.
This guy uses Reason 4, I guess, and I use the newest Reason, so Dr. OctoRex is different.
Basically, all you need to do is, go to your sequencer window, draw a random note on the combinator you're using and you're done....
So simple, yet it worked for me.
Thanks for sharing the tut btw and GL

I got a question myself as well:
Is there a possibility to assign multiple functions to one Rotary button on a combinator?
For example, I got a thor with 3 analog OSC's and some fx shit playing the same tune for 3 bars. I'd like to pitch shift them 1 octave up for the fourth bar. Is it possible to do so, or does anyone have another solution?
Thanks!

Yes you can assign more than 1 parameter to 1 rotary. You have to select multiple rotary 1's from the drop down menu in the combinator programmer.

Thanks, but I've come along another problem whilst doing that.
My first osc is on oct 4 as well as my second osc. Now, for my 3rd osc, it's on oct 3 and when I rotate the rotary, it puts all oct's on 4/5/6 or something. I temporarily solved this problem by just copying all I have got on that combinator and making a new combinator that plays the 4th bar, but there has to be an easier way?

Is there a way to get a formant type sound from the Massive vst in Reason?

Yes.
Record the part in a program that supports VSTs and bounce the audio as a Wav or Aiff. Import into one of Reason's samplers or into Record.

Does anyone know of any tutorial's from producers who use reason in the dubstep genre? heard mala uses reason. I would like to get a grasp of their workflow. Also does anyone know of any tutorials or have any advice on resampling basslines in reason, saw project ex's post a few pages back.
I've currently hit a dead end, so doing a bit of study. Want about genre techniques, song structure and writing, sampling and resampling. Condensing down a bit of info from the threads in this forum. Will post in here if its reason related.

I'd split your quest into two parts. The first theoretical, the second technical.
So grab some history books and read up about some producers in different genres at different times in history. Listen to their music and very quickly you'll have new ideas to incorporate into your own songs.
On the technical side, buy some books by Kurt Kurasaki, in particular
Power Tools for Reason 3.0 and 4.0. These books will help you rethink ways in which the existing tool set can be used to produce audio.
Also on the technical side, perhaps start reading more about the underlying technical theory related to audio technology and how effects units work. Reason is very very capable as a modular program in creating synths and effects that go beyond the capabilities of the stock rack devices. To this end, the Combinator is amazing!
Good luck!
Patrick
EDIT: Forgot to mention, Computer Music Magazine has Reason tutorials each month along with Masterclasses on producing different genres. It's worth buying some back issues off ebay / KVRaudio forums or even getting a subscription.

So I'm trying to compress my snares, which have been layered with Kong, but idk how to do this. Can someone explain how to compress three pads at once?

i dont have 5 but i know if you want multiple things going to one, use a spider and audio merger and but the 3 snare outputs into the spider and take that output of the spider to the compressor

Thanks. I already figured out another way that works (by changing the drum outputs of each pad and routing them to the compressor), but your method seems much more logical considered I also have hi-hats and rides and such in the same Kong instance

Flip the rack around and route each output on the back into an individual compressor...
