Agreed. I think Mob Rules is my favourite album though. One of the best shows I have been to was Heaven and Hell (and Down) in 2009ish. RIP Dio.

Fully agree with this tbh mate. I see some people acting absolute stnuc towards others and then hiding behind the "it's just banter" excuse when they're collared, as though the word banter is a catch all cover for them bullying someone.

Yeah exactly. Dickhead behaviour, Bullying, sexism (seems really common), homophobia and sometimes racism are fine if it's "banter".

Or just chatting shit about people you're supposedly mates with too. There's a difference between a bit of piss taking and humour between mates and just being a dick.

^ Yeah, i know someone who, if it were 10 years ago, could be clearly seen as the victim of sexual harassment. But nowadays, this sort of "banter" in the work place is just accepted... and it's bullshit.

That percy tune by kahn & neek is nice but very overhyped. Sounded better in his car.

I'm all for vinyl only releases or whatever, but it does seem a bit pointless that the showcase for this tune was playing it on a car stereo, then not putting out a digital release.

who are these people with such low self esteem they feel the need to take pride in the fact some semi-literate knucklehead that happens to be born in the same arbitarily divised portion of land successfully kicked a ball into a net ?

also if i wanted to watch sweaty guys in shorts dry-hump each other every chance they get for like an hour an a half i think i'd rather watch gay porn

this is no doubt also an unpopular opinion but i think it's poor form to castigate people for basically not being very clever. if a kid has learning difficulties and behavioural problems because he's had, in all fairness, a shit life, and turns out to be talented at kicking a ball around and other people enjoy watching him, is it really his fault? what has he actually done wrong? are footballers any thicker than average? don't get me wrong i think a fair proportion of footballers are stnuc but they get a lot of stick purely because their profession isn't seen as respectable.

sport is great.

Innit, claiming something's banter is not a free pass to act like a tnuc, really fucking winds me up :u:

Defining "intelligence" as the ability to do well at academic subjects is pretty narrow, tbh - that's a fairly small sliver of what our brains are used for... there's lots of evidence to suggest that top-class sport players are vastly more capable in other areas of intelligence than most of us such as rapid cognition/decision making and the ability to second-guess the intentions of others.

I'd much rather see Wayne Rooney putting his hard-nosed, working class intelligence to work making people smile on a football pitch than making them die on a battlefield.

Bear in mind the vast majority of them were effectively done with school by the time they were about 11

You can break down any form of entertainment like that. Who are these people with such low self-esteem that they need to go to a room and sit down with loads of others to watch a group of people on a screen that don't exist perform actions that never happened? are their lives that bad that they need such escapism?

Equating sport with gay sex often highlights the insecurities of the person making the remarking rather than those that watch it.

Exactly. They're so stupid that they identified they had the potentiable to be skillful in a VERY marketable area and stuck hard at until they became some of the best in the world. Stupid footballers. All they've ended up with is millions of pounds, the adoration of people around the world and a job playing a sport they've loved their whole life. I pity them, I really do.

We all have to be good at something.
Some people are good at selling drugs.
Some people are good at huffing thinners.
Other people are shit hot at kicking a small ball around the pitch.

i was more aiming at the people who couldnt play football to save their lives but yet somehow feel the fact wayne rooney or else correctly shot a ball into a net (the fact he can still manage to incorrectly do it given the amount of money he's paid baffles me a bit too but thats another issue) is grounds for them to take pride in.

sports are great i agree, hooligans should deffo practice sports instead of waving flags, being all nationalist like its 1914 all over again and honking their car horns all fucking night long :)

Why I support England.

Because there is such a thing as international football, and I may as well support someone. If that someone is a place where I've spent all my life, and is represented by people with shared cultures, ideals, etc. then I'm more likely to get behind them, rather than Ghana for example, which I have absolutely no connection to. Am I a nationalist? No. A world without borders would be pretty sweet, and I won't hate somebody for being born in a different patch of land. However, this is sport, international competition exists, so I picked a team. I imagine everybody else is the same. Apologies. :Q:
