re: social sciences

i majored in political science but the courses ranged from political theory and philosophy to economy, international relations, sociology. not sure how things are organized there, but here it depends on what you choose to specialize in. there are common courses, mostly in the first year but then it gets a bit more focused

sweet fuck all. the missus studied political science because at the time she thought it was interesting. She now works in advertising.

Was always interested in this myself, but not wanting to be involved in politics, I was left with the same thinking, teach.

thinking about uni is depressing. im 25 now, i've "studied" (as in getting the student benefit while fucking around and doing courses i can remember fuck all of) in a degree for 2 years that i'm starting to think is a waste of time. it just seemed interesting when i applied but it's actually bullshit no wonder they shut the program down after my class graduates. wish i had studied harder in our version of high school so i'd have better grades and i could've gone so far..

in our system apart from liberal arts it's mostly all about grades so if u get shit grades from high school u basically fucked can't get to law / med / hard science

Here you just need to graduate high school. They find out soon enough if you can't keep up
in uni. I'm doing a bachelors in audio through an institute connected to Essex now. Still debating whether I should do another bachelors after it.. I don't get any of the financial benefits now anyway.

i got in via entrance exam. at most unis you get in via high school & baccalaureate grades (except anything that's med or architecture) but some private unis are the worst tho. you can get in even without your baccalaureate as long as you promise to take it in the 3 or 4 years you study there

if you stay in the game its rewarding in its own way. my dad's a political economist, dude has never had a permanent job in his life. But, he has done everything that such an academic would dream of doing, such as teaching post-grads in Oxford/Cambridge, presenting his work at Harvard etc

you sound like your mind is in a good place for producing. lots of good musical ideas and the drive/motivation, and you haven't put yourself in a box in terms of the music you make. i miss the glory days, those first six months or so when you have so many ideas you've been thinking about your entire life as a listener and they just pour out of you. you don't really care too much about how good the music is and your creativity isn't hampered by music theory and conventions and other shit. take full advantage of the creative place that you're in
