Had to pop a blood vessel to remember this one, it was on early Sunday mornings on Channel 4, had an accompanying book as well.

Hehe yeah, probably. I think it might even be a pre-Robotech version from Japan, seems the Americans never managed to license the original Veritech fighter after they converted the series.
