@ DJRaynes: I think the intro before the drums comes in needs a bit more gravitas, sounds like a similar feeling to 'Deeper Underground' by Jamiroquai. I like the tune though, could do with more variation for the second chorus.
@ Rick Slater: Really like this one, bobbing my head to it all the way through. Especially like how the snare fits in with the song.
@ Eric Gasparro: Like the vibe and the drums, however the main woodwind over the top needs a bit of tweaking in my opinion, not organic enough atm. Maybe bring sub levels up a bit as well?
Wondered if anyone could have a quick look at my tune. Started off a kind of a pisstake of house by putting ridiculous amounts of sidechain compression on it, but turned out sounding alright so I followed it up. It's my first tune that I've got anywhere near finishing, but don't use that as an excuse to not rip into it. Ideas for transitions would be helpful, plus my intro kinda sucks:

@Neutonzz
Whole track seems like a very looong intro to something, but it's a good intro

I really like your vocal work.
@dansheep13
You need to structure your song better imo. Intro shouldn't take half of a song

And if it's a big build up then it should really go boom after that.
@DJRaynes
You need to add different atmospheric samples and such imo.
So, i was reading the f*n manual about mixing for 2 weeks and tried to mix my first track a bit better. Still needs some work, i will add vocals later and so on.

@Kongret, cheers for the input. I am planning to extend the song and add an outro. I agree with the drop though, needs more impact. Now to figure out how to do that. One thing I can SEE from your track is that at 1.08 when the dirty bass comes in, it is not quite as loud which takes away some of the energy.

@Kongret - Oh my oh my, I am totally digging that intro man! Though, I got a little disappointet when it dropped. If I were you, I would remove the 'yoi' basslines (but that's probably just me, as I hate the yoi basslines more than anything). The car alarm thingy at 1:21 is just spot on, gives me goose bumps!
@dansheep13 - At first I was like "whaaaaa", but then it most ceritainly got a little cooler. I didn't like the first part very much (35 - 1:16), I just don't like that bassline very much. 1:16 was pure love, man. I was seriously moving my self from side to side because I felt like I was dancing at some club. But that's probably mostly the weed (:D).
@Neutonzz - Take some of the power from those kicks and give a little some to the snare fella, he needs it and Mr Kick has too much. I like your vocal work, though it's a bit weird. But keep up the good work mate!
Here's mine - I am running low on ideas to add on this one.

@DubMikey I tried, srsly. I made that growly thing in fm8, which you can actually hear in some places, but when i tried to add it instead of yoi bass it didn't f*n fit

BETTER SOUND DESIGN??

I've been producing tunes for probably 7 months now, but I still can't seem to get a really thick, processed sound. Here's an example:

Should I use resampling more? If anyone has some advice or good patches for Reason 5, please help :[
Thanks!

Hello everyone! New to this forum! Just thought I'd upload what I'm currently working on. It's my first time using massive (I wasn't very good at manipulating albino 3 with deep bass's that sounded...full? You can listen to those tracks too however! Feedback would still be appreciated.) But the song im working on now is my main concern, seeing if I'm heading in the right direction. Thank you for your time!

Take off all your effects.
EQ out what is unnecessary. You have a shit ton of unnecessary high freqs and white noise for example. This will be much easier in a program outside of Reason.

Care to elaborate a little? Do you mean sound design like this is easier in other daws? Or that you could use a second piece
of software next to Reason.

Hey guys,
Would really appreciate some feedback on my first WIP, needs a second drop variation and the B drop needs resampling but would be great to get some tips and advice to help guide this tune to the finish line.

yeah sounds like you have a lot of unnecessary frequencies in there. bass line just sounds a bit crap, not the way you have it arranged, just sounds a bit muddy etc.
using an eq boost a narrow band all the way and find harsh frequencies and notch them out.
when i make a bass line i usually make a patch that sounds okay with no fx on it. then i usually freq split and add slight tape distortion to the lows, then i add an array of distortion and fx to the mids, then i give the high end some distortion, movement with a slight delay or a tremelo and of coarse reverb. your going to want to eq out a lot of the added harmonics from the fx by freq splitting again after the fx. then eq the entire thing as a whole with the method i stated before notching out unwanted frequencies.
it takes a bit of experimenting but using this method will leave you with much cleaner basses instead of muddy and thrashing ones.
^ and the above poster means that its easier to eq in a program outside of reason because reason doesn't have a spectrum analyzer or anything. but you can still eq out harsh freq just fine by using the method i mentioned.
