We had people send us mixes and Im fairly sure ive not listened to any of them, because I dont have time to listen to ones I do actually want to listen too, let alone random ones. Though if you came up to me and introduced yourself at a night it would show me

A: you actually have an interest in the night/music cos well youve paid £5 to be there
B: I would feel bad about tossing a cd aside and would give it a go for that reason at minimum.

Your presuming I have time to listen to yours over I duno Oneman or something and that I dont have people I want to book and friends or friends of friends I want to have play. As Joe Random you have some serious hurdles to jump tbh and hell Ive only put on one night so for people with actually big regular nights they will be inundated with em.

alright i admit i might be wrong

i did what i did based on the fact that i asked a guy i know who's been in the business (aka earns a pretty good living just by DJ'ing, albeit shit top40 crap and commercial TRVP twerk shit) for a while now that is it OK if i contact club owners via e-mail well he said it's fine i just gotta give some reason to book me..

also as i looked for contact info on different venues' websites they all had this separate e-mail address for bookings, now they wouldn't put it up there if they weren't interested in booking people? but truth be told there's slim to none chance we'll be booked. but i didn't expect much i'm just happy i've done some effort lol

tbf i'll prolly have better chance to be booked as an artist on the basis of my productions, which still isn't saying much doe

tbf i understand where you're coming i mean if i understood right you're just putting up nights for a hobby which is totally different to an actual venue owner whose actual dayjob is to book artists and dj's to play his club. in this case it would be a bit dick to not listen to any mixes ppl send you lol if you're just setting up nights for fun you can't be expected to book random ppl it's not your job

Ah also from my limited experience, the people that run venues are lazy assholes. So take what you think you know about how an industry like this should work, and throw it out the window. Maybe its just london but no responses, 4week+ later one line responses, lies, question dodging and other stuff is industry standard apparently.

I dont think so, Its a fair chunk of £ to get there and only for a few days. I mean if I somehow have some cash left over I might be able to last minute it but between going to Barcelona, moving, putting another night on and xmas its not looking good.
Suck tho as I havent been for aaages and I bet its good in winter

ah, I remember reading something about barcelona and that. shame, but put on the spot I would've made the same choice. and Switzerland is fucking expensive, especially since our currency is still going strong compared to the pound.
