Nah just me whining about London flat prices, though I would move there after I grow tired of #londonlife over anywhere else in the Uk at this point in my life for sure

i did what i did based on the fact that i asked a guy i know who's been in the business (aka earns a pretty good living just by DJ'ing, albeit shit top40 crap and commercial TRVP twerk shit) for a while now that is it OK if i contact club owners via e-mail well he said it's fine i just gotta give some reason to book me..
no ones saying its not okay to email the owner, its just not a good way to make yourself stand out.
Which is totally different to an actual venue owner whose actual dayjob is to book artists and dj's to play his club. in this case it would be a bit dick to not listen to any mixes ppl send you lol if you're just setting up nights for fun you can't be expected to book random ppl it's not your job[/url]

Umm you've got it upside down bud. As a promoter my day job is talking to booking agencies and hammering out details on the guy im about to spend $1000+ on that night. As a club owner, my day job is dealing with the clubs rent and other bills, barstock, employees, permits and inspectors...how high can listening to some locals mix be on the list of priorities for my business? Plus I have to live my own life...maybe I don't even really like the music in my club. I just like supporting music in general and want to be around it for a living (which is kinda where hobby promoters are too).

Even if you hand the mix in person the guy might not listen to it - but its not about the mix - its about showing you have ambition and confidence and making a first impression that seperates you from everyone else. You gotta sell yourself man.

Was in church today, and the priest quoted Deadwood:

I actually recognized that passage from the show.... :|

If someone puts ">>>>>" in a tracklist, that means that the song before it outlasted the song with the >>>>> in the mix, right?

If not, what exactly does it mean?

I usually thought it meant the track with >>>>> was just being teased?

oh i thought it was like to signify that the list wasn't really in "order" because they were using 3-4 decks and the tune was played but doesn't fit in with the order (ie it finished before the tune before it finished)

i'm asking cause i'm making a tracklist now and i'm not quite sure if i should use that or not

actually here is the tracklist i'm talking about if you wanna let me know if i'm using them correctly
