I just realised I only ever get booked for opening slots anymore. according to a promoter (and friend) it's because my opening sets are 'really, really good.' not quite sure how to feel about this.
on one hand, it's a compliment because I think the opening slot is by far the most difficult. on the other, well, I don't know...

yes, it certainly is. and don't worry, I always do my best when it comes to clanging tunes left and right. it's just a bit weird to be "that guy". since I'm not playing dnb, and most nights I play at (including my own) are dnb nights, it seems only natural that I'll be the one playing the first set. I've taken the closing spot a couple of times now (at dnb raves), with mixed results, so there's that. maybe I should just start booking dubstep artists and take second or last slot at those nights. however, I lack the money to start another series (or even run a one-off).

ah, shouldn't be moaning and just be glad I get to play in front of people at all - considering there's a large amount of DJs around that are arguably (much) better than I am.

you nailed it. however, I don't feel like switching up my general selection (I'm intelligent enough to not be playing ambient records at 2am). also, not a lot of people popping mandy at dubstep or dnb raves around here; especially in dubstep. everyone's just smoking.
maybe it's for the best though. don't want to buy & play music just to appeal to the audience.

according to Scuba, that makes me a tnuc, I believe.
