are you dumb?

Grime is the shit,
Dubstep is the shit,
Garage is the shit (4x4 and 2-step).

Unity at 140bpm people, stop with the snobbery.

And if you don't like grime just because of some scary lyrics, haha. You're missing out on some really good stuff.

True really innit.

I heard one guy say "this is just Grime made by mans with more than a weeks production experience!"

Intelligent Grime = Dubstep... :D
dont know about that...grime is a lot more aggressive, and the sound of the mc puts a whole different element to it .

I do agree that dubstep sounds as if the production is much cleaner, but at the same time...think about the name grime...its meant to sound raw and, well, grimey :)

Grime is not an MC. Grime does not spit about guns. moretime thats what MCs do. Maybe the thing letting MCs down is the guntalk, & the thing letting Grime down is people thinking it's all about MCs.
People can listen to either side of it.

Grime is as deep and multicomplexed as dubstep, and I believe they should move as a united formation for UK urban music.
maybe its the five djs an the 80s tht get billed at nights tht make people think its about mcs an ye wot lets it down is the gun by grime mcs so stop tryin 2 make im sound thick

at the end of day its music but jus cz there at the same tempo dont mean there the same thing grime music is for the mcs everyone in the scene will tell you tht dubpstep isnt about mcs atalll

as for it being as deep as deep as dubstep wot the fuck are you smokin ???

leave grime as grime an dubstep as dubstep then musics are better off tht way u dont need 1 for the other 2 work

Thats correct. People dont go to grime raves to check the dj, they go for the mc.
All im saying is gun talk ect lets grime music down.I like some grime music, people like plastician, tubby, geenius, mrk 1 ect make sik beats. There productions are tight and of course they put as much time and effort into it as im sure most other grime producers do.
i appreciate not all mc's talk about guns n violance but 95% do.

Most recent Sidewinder in Swindon - which I can't find the flyer for right now annoyingly - had in the biggest letters at the top:

Logan Sama -- Plastician -- Bossman -- Heartless Crew -- Cameo

and then underneath in letters half the point size listed all the MCs. So um, no.

mate you're way off with that estimate. and you say yourself you're not like hugely into grime, so i beg you stop the generalising. i understand your point that you like some grime and for you gun talk puts you off, sure, but pls stop painting the whole music with this brush. grime gets enough of that from scummy mainstream press..

could some of this sentiment arise from the relative lack of decent grime releases on vinyl lately versus a number of high quality dubstep releases?

you can go on about how counter-productive it is to separate the two with labels and to extent that's fair enough, but the idea does have some currency otherwise we wouldn't even be able to have a discussion about 'grime' and 'dubstep' and all know what we were referring to and how to differentiate the music associated with those terms.

speaking personally i used to buy a lot of both and drop tunes from both areas alongside eachother when playing out, but (again personally speaking) lately there seems to have been a drought in terms of vinyl grime releases that come up to scratch musically and production-wise.

given that many people are into both areas and if you accept that the above is the case, i can understand (if not necessarily condone) why some people are saying this sort of thing.

I don't even know why they are classed as Grime & Dubstep its two totally different genres.

But as Skream quite bluntly put.. Its all music people just enjoy the vibes.

This is a stupid argument

I could spend 18 hours making an intense grime track...

I could then go and make a dubstep track, taking the same time...

One is not better produced than the other - its down to personal opinion. the two sounds are unique in their own right yet not too different from eachother at the same time.

Just let them be - music is music. it's not a science - the science is sound.
Nuff said,

Plastician also said that in a rapnews.co.uk interview that the main similarity is the speed.

For me it means you can mix the two genres allowing cross-over tracks like request line. I also like it when you occasionally get a grime mc spit over dubstep.

Anyway they are both raw sounds which deserve to be rinsed on a big system so fuck it leave em be
