For me it's allllllll about the happy balance between my two favourite genres: dubstep and dnb. Was always a rock / metal / hardcore kid many years before I got into dnb (and I still am, anyone for a slice of Bury Your Dead?)

I love how I can bounce off another genre when I get tired of / run out of new tunes - like at the moment, I need some inspiration, so I'm listening to some of my Loefah stuff. Also partly because I now have a PHAT monitoring setup in my house, and I love how my sub can be heard OUTSIDE the house with all the windows and doors closed (and I'm at the back of the house), but yeah. I cranked my sub and just stood in my room... and involuntarily started sweating, that's the kind of reaction bass elicits in me



Also the fact that hell, it's all from the same root, dubstep, dnb, jungle... Jamaicans knew what they were playing at when they developed their roots and culture ting, NOWT beats an hour or so of classic dub OHHHHHHHH HHOH HO HO Goat Stare just dropped (sorry) - you can always tell who I am cause if a badass bassline drops in a club, I just stand still and go completely screw face.




If anything, I think the symbiotic relationship that quite drastically different genres of music have is a real plus point - it's like a colour wheel (if you ever did GCSE art at school), colours opposite of each other naturally complement each other. With me, dubstep and dnb is very synergistic (hence one of the reasons why I chose the nick I did), you can mentally bounce off either of the genres, get ideas from both, when you're 'into' two genres of music as different from each other as dnb and dubstep are, it really changes your entire mindset - for the better I think.


My history is a short one: classic rock and a bit of the old pop when I was a kid, walked my own path really. From there, got into harder rock, love it all though, did piano lessons for four years but dropped them for drum lessons, did that for 8 years, in a few bands etc, so my left brain loves electronica and my right brain loves rock in all its glorious forms (except emo and indie, never mind).

Put it like this: I was one of the kids who was into Michael Jackson when they were younger when it was totally uncool to be a fan of Michael Jackson. One of the things I hate most are the people who insist on you following a popular musical trend. They can go fuck themselves.




Did I also mention that I love dubstep because if you have a head cold (like I do), all you have to do is crank your sub right up and put your head next to the woofer to clear your sinuses out. Works like a treat! (I just did it)

Dubstep Warz was my intro. I kept listening to it and soon started to realize that certain sounds were making me bounce. That was at the beginning of the Summer.

i am a music lover, into alot things at the minute, used to be into hardcore when i was younger. went through a cheesy r&b phase which i am glad i came through, for awhile i didn't think i would make it. drum&bass, hip hop, i have kind of a love hate thing going on with that,garage, grime is cool, liking techno, love good house, breaks, even some pop. music right now is very exciting so much good stuff out there.
