Their later stuff seems to be mostly thrash metal toss though, but these were evil as hell

Parson - Yeah CoL are wicked. I actually got into them before neurosis or isis, I first heard them when "the beyond" came out. That would have to be my favourite CoL album. The new one's a bit weak compared to their older stuff in my opinion. Still good tho

fucking hate koko as a venue though. really pish sound. good fun that night though, autechre were slamming and rob hood's techno set (2nd) was precise as you like.

Been hearing more and more dubstep press and had to see if anyone was mentioning Mick Harris and the like, so i found this thread and am pleased to get the blast from the past.
Sleep - amazing band. Dope Smoker is wicked but i always liked Holy Mountain better. I saw them open for the Melvins at Slim's (San Francisco) in maybe '94.
Neurosis - hell yeah! Souls at Zero raised the bar for me. Saw them in Seattle at a club called Oz for the first time on that tour.
But back to more the dubstep sound. I think that projects like Quoit, Scorn, Godflesh (hmmnn... Napalm Death anyone?) and a lot of the stuff from Possible records pioneered the sound.
Big Up to them!

Sleep- Vol. One and Jerusalem
Bongzilla- Methods for Attaining Extreme Altitudes
Electric Wizard- Come my Fanatics(stupid lyrics, but it sounds like Sabbath on pure DXM)
Eyehategod- Entire catalog(I hate this bands name, but love their music)
Godflesh- Entire catalog
Scorn- Entire catalog
Agoraphobic Nosebleed- PCP Torpedo/AnbRX(Normally this band is grind metal at the speed of light but there some remixes by J. Broadrick and Submachine Drum that turn it into slow and pounding industrial terror)
Black Sabbath- First four albums
Disembowelment- Transcendence Into the Peripheral

Did anyone here see Neurosis and Today is the Day like 5 or 6 years ago or something? That gig was so loud my ears nearly bled!
Goatsnake 'I' is one of the best albums Ive ever heard though. Seriously heavy album!!
